Mirdovia: The White Raven

Prologue

Aasrena Rimelight, born a Scourge Aasimar in Mirdovia, grew up surrounded by Humans, Elves and Tritons. She grew up a single child along with following her mother's footsteps in praising The Raven Queen. Aasrena and her mother would host dinners for members of their village along with playing games of chess and dice.

When Aasrena was 12, she came home one afternoon to find the bloody corpse of her mother in the backroom. A single wound pierced into her mother's heart where the blood was flowing out. Unsure of what to do, Aasrena turned to the only women she believed could help, The Raven Queen.

After her prayers had finished, Aasrena sat in the blood pool to be close to her mother for a little longer. Aside from Aasrena's sobbing the room was silent. Moments later a single raven would land in the window sill and peer into the room. Watching with it's red eyes and not making a sound.

Aasrena took this as The Raven Queen's response and Aasrena knew better than most that The Raven Queen doesn't approve of those that cheat death. Aasrena would have to accept her mother's fate and that she was not coming back. She still felt the need to beg, but that soon vanished. Aasrena soon believed she needed to find the killer and return the favor. Joy once took root in her eyes, but that was soon submerged with hatred.

Before Aasrena could leave her mother's side she hears a women's voice cold and soft. The sound sends chills down her spine and goosebumps along her arms. "In time, child, in time." The voice says.

Aasrena would quickly halt her plan of revenge and went on to spend the next few years of her life working at the docks along Mirdovia's coast. Helping ships with their imports and exports from the seven islands surrounding the continent.

As an 18 year old Aasimar now, her innate desire to conquer evil grew stronger and stronger, but the means to do so were hard. The burning question of who killed her mother continued to singe in the back of her mind without a single clue to follow.

Every night since the murder, Aasrena would pray to The Raven Queen and every night she'd see the watchful red eyes of a raven in the trees. The raven alone fed hope to Aasrena, but the eyes would fuel her anger.
