A Tale of the Path to Villainhood

Chapter 3

Sylvia tentatively reached her hand out and grabbed one of the orbs.

She could feel the orb absorbing into her skin and felt a rush of warmth flowing from her palm.

She looked at her hand in shock, 'There's no way, did I  really just steal the main character's cheat?'

But she couldn't be in shock forever, she quickly recollected herself and reached out to the other orbs.

Each time she touched an orb, she would feel increasingly warm and comfortable, almost like a sense of home...

'This is probably the element that I have the most affinity with.' Sylvia reasoned.

But Sylvia couldn't help but sigh, 'It's a shame though, the main character could absorb every single element by the end of the game... But I'll likely be stuck with just darkness.'

Sylvia thought about the overpowered main character's plot once again.

Sylvia remembered recoiling at the thought of the main character of the original otome game gradually getting more elements as powers as she acquired more and more capture targets.

'Isn't this basically forcing the players to choose the harem ending?!' Sylvia thought at the time.

But of course, her colleagues thought differently. So ultimately she had no say in it.

'Which powers corresponded with which capture targets again?' Sylvia wondered.

But before she could fully remember, the carriage ride came to a halt and Katelyn opened the carriage door.

"Miss Sylvia, we have arrived!" Katelyn announced.

"Oh, right!" Sylvia hopped out of the carriage with a spring in her step.

Normally, Sylvia couldn't wait to get out of the carriage and would countdown every minute until she could get out, this was because she had unluckily carried over her motion sickness from the other world.

But after this carriage ride, she didn't feel motion sick at all and even felt rejuvenated, 'So this is the life of having cheats.' Sylvia gave two thumbs up to the cheat lifestyle.

She couldn't help but to think about the other overpowered cheats that the main character had and she shook her head softly.

'No use comparing a lowly being such as myself to the chosen one.' Sylvia shrugged and resumed her happy mood.

As Sylvia neared the front gates of the manor, she cheerfully greeted the servants.

The servants were a bit confused since she usually was very moody and ill after carriage rides. But they readily welcomed the pleasant new change.

Sylvia kicked off her shoes as soon as she entered her house and ran into her bedroom.

Her other personal maid, Jarolyn, was shocked at the speed at which Sylvia undressed and hopped into the bathtub.

Shortly after, Jarolyn saw an out of breath Katelyn running desperately after Sylvia.

"Katelyn, what happened to the young miss?" Jarolyn looked at Katelyn with vicious daggers in her eyes.

"Don't look at me like that! I didn't do anything!" Katelyn held her hands up in surrender.

"You had one job, how do you mess it up?" Jarolyn sighed at her twin sister's incompetence.

"Well actually there's a lot of ways, but I swear I didn't do any of them." Katelyn quickly said.

Jarolyn whacked the back of Katelyn's head, "You idiot."
