Ari stood in the kitchen, helping her dad prep for dinner, it was almost time for the meeting and anxiety had set in. She picked up the knife and skillfully began cutting vegetables, one by one.
There was a knock at the door. Ari put the knife down and called her other dad down. Another knock was heard as she walked to the door. She gripped the knob and pulled it open.
"Emma, Mr. and Mrs. Cane, come in." Ari spoke.
They walked in just as my dad my his way over, "Hi, you must be Emma's parents. I'm James. Ari has told my husband and I so much about you. Please, have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink?"
Her parents looked slightly shocked at the words 'husband and I'. They looked down at Emma then to me.
"Excuse us, husband?"
My father nodded. I stood, anxiously waiting for their response.
My other father walked downstairs, "Sorry for the wait, My name is Juwon, It's a pleasure to meet you."
Emma's parents stood in horror. Her fathers face suddenly turned to a face of disgust.
"Disgusting." Was all he said, before grabbing his wife and daughter by the hands.
"I will not let my daughter be contaminated by such heinous creatures." He turned and drug Emma and his wife out of the house, scolding Emma as he did so.
Ari stood, a sudden rage boiling in her. Her dads stood in disbelief. Before Ari could even think she ran after Emma and her family.
"How dare you insult my family like that. Heinous!? You are the only heinous creature I see, and after the hospitality we had shown you!" Rage seethed out of me.
Emma broke free from her fathers grasp and moved to stand at my side.
"Dad, I agree with Ari. After how kind they were to us, even if it were only for a moment, you should never have said that."
Her father went red faced.
"Emma Leah Cane. Don't side with that abomination. She and her parents will rot in hell for the sin they have committed."
Emma scowled, "Don't speak about my friend's family like that."
She was firm, "Sin!?" Ari began to laugh.
"Haha, Some people are so simple minded. Love is love, and that's all there is to it. My family doesn't need to explain anything to you and if you have a problem, keep it to yourself."
Her father turned an even deeper shade of red. He quickly grabbed Emma's wrist and pulled her along. She turned back and gave Ari an apologetic look.
Ari huffed and turned on her heels, moving quickly across the yard and back into the house.

Hours later Ari lay on her bed, her mind calm as she lay there waiting for slumber to take over, but realized she wasn't tired, but instead needed a drink. She stood and left her room, walking quietly to the kitchen downstairs.
She opened the fridge and flinched as the light hit her face. She looked up and down before deciding she wanted a soda. She grabbed the drink and heard a knock on the door.
'Who could it be at this hour?' She thought as she walked to the door.
She looked through the peep hole and spotted Emma on the other side.
She opened the door in surprise.
"Emma? What are you doing here?" Ari asked confused.
She pushed past Ari and made her way to the couch before breaking down into tears.
Ari walked over, "Emma?"
She placed a hand on Emma's back.
"Th-they disowned m-me!" She sobbed.
I heard my dads come downstairs and look at us. I peer back to them and they walk over.
"Take a deep breath." I said, rubbing her back.
She she did so for a few moments before looking up at me.
"A-After we got home my dad and I argued," she spoke, " It got pretty heated and I finally told him I was lesbian. He told me to get out of his house and I wasn't his daughter."
She looked down timidly.
Ari looked at her dads.
James smiled, looked at Juwon, then back to her.
"Your welcome to stay with us."
Ari smiled.
"Really?" Emma was shocked.
Both Ari's dads nodded, "Of course."
"Thank you."

This chapter was hard to write, not because it took me a lot to think of what all to say and how everyone would take it, but because my dad was also very unhappy to learn that I was bisexual. So part of this is kinda personal to me.
