Dear Pen Pal,

I find it quite weird that we have used the nickname "Pen Pal," when we could be using our names. Is it that you are scared to give me yours? If that's the case, that's fine cause I don't really want to share mine either.

That was how you started your weekly letter to your pen pal.  It's pretty childish that you still write to them. You thought to yourself. You've just always written to them. It's a thing you've always done, like school. You don't remember starting school, you just go every day until you graduate from college. Speaking of college, that's where you were now.

Anyways, I've just started college. I got here a few days early to get the best classes and get used to the grounds. How about you?

You loved venting to your Pen Pal, but today you had more to do than just vent.

You described.

I have no idea where I managed to find a scholarship to this wonderful school. You would love it. All the colors, the gardens are magnificent, and there are so many things to study here that I'm writing to you instead of choosing.

You thought you could end it now.

Well, I'll spare your eyes the rest of what I planned on writing. You'll need to send me your new address when you write your next letter.

Best of luck, Pen Pal

There. Complete. You turned your eyes to the schedule you were drafting. You hoped they'd accept it because it looked neat, doable, and the classes weren't full on the list you got today.

You thought you had it set up pretty good. You had all your classes set up perfectly. If only I didn't need Public Speaking. You stepped away from your desk and stretched. You turned to the mirror with a sigh, wishing you could have a different tail. I hate it. It looks so weird. It was a yellow rat snake base with crow feathers, some black fur stripes, softer grey fur stripes, and an underside of sandy-colored fur. I wish my tail was like the tails of those who already found their soulmates. When somebody finds their soulmate, their tail begins to shed away the parts it shared with your soulmates tail, and it looks normal. I've tried shaving the fur, but it hurts to take off the feathers. You walked over to your belongings. You only skimmed the surface, taking out necessary things like your pencil box and your notebooks. Tomorrow you had to go pick up your textbooks, then school started on Monday. You turned on your phone, checking the time. 6:35. I should hurry and unpack so I don't have to do this on Saturday or Sunday.

--- The POV Has Changed ---

You sat on the edge of your bed, going through your clothes to see what you should pack. You already had your travel stuffie, who was a rabbit, your personal stuff, your notebooks and writing supplies, and a small pile of clothes. Your suitcase laid open on the floor in front of you, and you already had some clothes in there. Your dad poked his head in, "Hey kiddo, you've got some mail." You took the letter and ripped it open. Another letter from my Pen Pal. Nice! You read it, laughed a bit, then continued to pack your things into the open suitcase.

It was time to eat, and you walked over to the table with your things. I can't believe I leave after dinner. Good thing I finished packing in time. "Are you nervous kiddo?" asked your dad. "A little, but I get to meet new people and get quality education there." Your dad nodded. The rest of the meal was eaten in silence, then you got into the car with your dad as the rest of your family lined up in the driveway to wave goodbye. After about thirty minutes of driving, you made it to the airport. You hugged your dad then boarded the plane. It's gonna be a long flight...
