"No one ever thought this one would survive," Jude sang softly to herself, clutching Adam's worn out iPod.
"Helpless child, gonna walk a drum beat behind, lock you in a dream, never let you go," She scrolled through the list, each song reminding her of a piece of him.
His hair.
His eyes.
His lips.
"Never let you laugh or smile, not you," With each trembling breath she took, she whispered out the words to his favourite song.
"Well, I just want to walk right out of this world, 'cause everybody has a poison heart. I just want to walk right out of this world, 'cause everybody has a poison heart." She felt a gnawing feeling in her stomach growing worse with every passing word she sang. Jude dismissed it as hunger.
"Making friends with a homeless torn up man, he just kind of smiles, it really shakes me up," Jude rapped her knuckles to the beat of the music, eyes half closed.
"Jude?"
Jude's eyes flew open. She ripped the earbuds out of her ears and scrambled up to face her mother. Her mothers face remained neutral, but her eyes told a different story, "I scheduled another appointment with Dr.Greg for today,"
"Ok."
Jude remained still. Her mother sighed and rubbed her temples,"And when I say today, I mean in an hour, please go get dressed." She exited the room, shutting the door softly behind her.
Jude still made no move to get up. Instead, she popped her earbuds back in.
"Well, I just want to walk right out of this world, 'cause everybody has a poison heart. I just want to walk right out of this world, 'cause everybody has a poison heart."
