A loud sound of something breaking caused the 5'9'' teen to shiver. Why? Because it was his mind that was finally falling apart. His one goal throughout the few 14 years of his life had all been dedicated to one day becoming a hero, but that's not how it goes.

The world is not full of nice people, fairytales, and everything nice. No, far from it. It is a cruel place that had been so kind to give Izuku Midoriya a VIP ticket through its worst rollercoaster. Only 14, full of dreams and hope, the boy has been hindered in every direction.

Everywhere he went, people ridiculed him, tormented his vision, shoved him beneath them. All because of one thing. One thing that he couldn't even control. One thing that had made him who he is seen as. Not personality. As long as you have that one thing that Izuku doesn't have, your life will be normal.

What is that thing? Well, they're called quirks.

What is a quirk? There are many ways of describing a quirk. You can call it a superpower. Something unnatural turned natural over time. But, there are some people that despise quirks.

You see, this world's society is built upon quirks. If you don't have it, you're an outcast. You won't be seen as part of this modern-day. 90% of the world's population is lucky enough to get a quirk.

Izuku is in that 10% who don't have them.

However, that never stopped him from trying to achieve his dream. He had trained, studied, even taken notes on how to best defeat a quirked opponent in battle. But, that all changed today. The day they would look over high school applications.

It had started just like any other day...

"Izuku! School starts in fifteen! You gotta hurry!" A feminine voice shouted from the living room, getting her son to finally wake up and get ready. "Okay!" He shouted back, making sure she heard him. He rubbed his eyes before he got up and changed, walked out of his room, grabbed the toast on the counter and grabbed his backpack before he left for school.

"Bye, mom! Have a nice day!" He shouted as he opened the door to leave. His mother, Inko Midoriya, went up to give her son a hug before he left. "You behave now, Izu. I don't want another outburst like last week." Inko said in a strict but joking tone.

"No promises," Izuku replied smugly, giving her a grin. "Anyway, bye." He walked out of the apartment and down the building before he started his walk to school.
