The German Room

All German language rooms are the same. Huge flags from German speaking countries displayed across the wall, cruddy textbooks stacked in the corner,a rusty stool in front of the class, a stained whiteboard. A classic old schoolroom, abandoned, perfect for two people who need to be alone.
I walk into the room, not knowing what to expect from Kasey. He doesn't hear me and I watch as he paces around nervously. We finally make eye contact.
"Hey! I've been waiting for you! How was your first few classes?"
"They were good. I didn't see you in any of them though. Aren't you a senior?"
He sighs. "Not for long..."
"Because you are graduating? Or are you moving?"
"That's why I asked you here." He sarcastically smiles at me. "What? Did you think we were gonna make out or something?"
I feel heat rise to my cheeks.
"Actually, yes. Sorry for misunderstanding."
There's a pause. He looks me in the eyes.
" You'll get your kiss, don't you worry, but first I need to tell someone what's going on."
I pull up an old chair and sit backwards. He pulls one up too.
"Spill it Kasey, it's now or never."
He looks down at his hands.
" Well you see, I've been expelled for unknown reasons. I'm not sure why, the school doesn't know why, but my mom does. I wanted to tell someone, and I'm sure as hell not telling my friends. And..." he pulls up his chair closer to mine. He leans in and kisses me. "... Now you can't kiss and tell about me being expelled." I kiss him back.
" You can still tell your friends about me doing that."

At the time I thought that was his only secret. But there was far more.
