As I sat in the living room, a book holding my concentration, the front door slammed open to reveal an unhappy man in a suit. He threw his Bacca hat on the couch and slammed the door.

"What's wrong, Jerome?" I asked, closing Divergent and setting it down.

"Mitch sacrificed me in a game again. He never f-cking dies for me. And when he does, he wins anyway!" He pounded his fist on the wall, causing the picture frames to become slightly dislodged.

"Just tell him that you want to win one, I'm sure he'd understand." I tried to reason with the frustrated man, but he just sent me a look that said 'Not now.'

"Fine.. I'm sure you'll be okay tomorrow. You always are. Never stays that way, but it'll be fine while it lasts, right? I'm going to bed." I grabbed my book, sent a small glare at Jerome, and went up to me room. He never listens to me or anyone else.

Once I got up to my room, I sighed and plopped down onto my mattress, enjoying the softness as I let my eyes close and my mind wonder. Why didn't Jerome listen to anybody? He's perfectly normal when he's not frustrated with Mitch, which happens a lot less often than not, nowadays.

He's always just so angry with his best friend... Maybe they should spend a little bit of time apart? Yeah, that'll happen. Keep filling your head with these thoughts, (Y/N). They'll never happen.

I fluttered my eyes shut (again) and fell right asleep,

----

"Hey, (Y/N)? You awake yet?" I heard Jerome's voice through my sleepy state, and opened my eyes. He was knocking on the door to my room.

"Yeah, yeah... Just kinda tired... I'll be out in a minute..." I slowly scrambled to get my day clothes on before heading outside, but Jerome's voice came through the door once more.

"Actually, I was kinda hoping that I could come inside and talk?" I could hear his fingers brush at the short hair on the back of his neck. I opened the door to see him in his pajama bottoms, his chest bare. Only now did I realize the time.

"Why do you want to come into my room and talk at 3 in the morning, Jerome? This must be important, because you interrupted my beauty sleep." I joke, trying not to look at Jerome's chest or stomach, but.. Okay, I snuck a few glances. I'm not a bad person for just looking, right?

"I.. Um... Wanted to apologize... For being rude earlier... I was just peeved at Mitch, and I needed to throw and punch some things, but I'm sorry.. Just know whenever I do that, I don't mean the damage I've done.." He stood in my doorway awkwardly, his right hand still on the back of his neck.

"As long as you don't hurt yourself, or put a hole in something, I'm fine with you being angry. We all need to let off some steam." I shrugged, smiling weakly. His face brightened and he hugged me, his arms around my waist, and picked me up slightly.

My face was sooo red.. I swear, you'd be able to see it from Jupiter or something.

I gently wrapped my arms around his torso, since I was only a little bit off the ground, and I didn't think it'd be friend-like of me to hug him like that. I mean, I would love to. I really would, but I don't really think he feels that way. I know what you're thinking, and yeah, he's hugging me. So? Friends hug friends.

And boy, did that just turn upside down.

He kissed the top of my head as I nuzzled my face into his chest, trying to hide my blush.

We both pulled away from the embrace, seemingly with the same amount of regret.

"S-sorry.. I d-didn't mean to- I mean... Yo-you're a lovely girl a-and... I'm just digging myself a bigger hole, here, aren't I?" He dragged his hand down his face, a then rubbed his cheeks with both.

I giggled and wrapped my arms around his torso once more, resting my head on his chest.

"No, not really."
