Prologue

"Good morning, this is Daniel Murray from Channel 33 reporting. As we all know that last week the central bank, funding government facilities, was robbed. It is now found out that the culprit behind it could be The Pheonix..."

"...two days ago there was an attack on four of the Monroe City doctors, who were all found dead with a bullet in their heads. After some research the police has told us that they all worked for "The ICE Workers" which is a government facility organised to train workers as best as possible. The police also say that they suspect that Phoenix could be behind these attacks..."

"... Monroe City's famous professor, Dr. Reginald's, house was deliberately set on fire last night. The police suspects Phoenix and her group of wildfire like always..."

I turned the radio of my phone off after hearing my name on almost every channel.

Right now as I stood over the tallest building in this city, called the "Skyton", I realised that every single citizen takes me and my group as our city's own personal villains.

Looking over the roads and buildings, I thought about how my life used to be before all this. How I could walk on these streets freely and laugh with anyone I wanted to without people running away in fear or calling the police as soon as they caught sight of me.

You must be wondering what this is all about?

Well let me tell you all about my former perfect life that was snatched away from me just because they wanted to snatch it and they could.

You see, I was the perfect teenage girl trying to live my life happily.

I had almost everything I wanted; caring parents, a loving boyfriend, and a smarter than average brain.

I was what they called a genius.

Not to toot my horn but I am also a fast and a great learner so I have like way too many other skills as well.

I was really famous in this place since our city is really small and I have a remarkable brain.

And it might also be because I just so happened to be the long time girlfriend of the mayor's son.

Yup. Hunter Rolland, son of Mayor Douglas Rolland, was my boyfriend for almost three years.

I used to think that Hunter and I were like some fairytale couple where he was the rich prince and I was the middle class ordinary girl.

That was until I realised that I am not a part of a fairytale.

I am just a part of a deal.

You see, Hunter wanted to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career in acting. His father, on the other hand, wanted him to stay and take over the city after him.

The mayor loves ruling this city and is very passionate about his job. He mostly wants the next one after him to be his blood because he thinks only the Rollands are worthy of ruling the city.

However there was something that the Mayor wanted more than his son as the next ruler.

It was the fucking organisation that ruined us all.

I like to call it the Hellhole but it also goes by the name of "The Intelligent, Cerebral and Effective Workers" full for "The ICE Workers". But people usually refer to it as The ICE

Everyone supports The ICE because they were told by Mayor that this facility is just a training centre with more advanced equipment and it will give Monroe City a better workforce in the future.

The public knows they only take youngsters and children that are special in some way and take them for  enhancing their abilities and perfect them even more because they will be the upcoming labour force.

What they don't know is that the methods and the advanced equipment that they use on us workers is a whole new different kind of torture.

You see, we don't get a special treatment in here. No. We are experimented on and treated as lab rats. But that's a talk for later.

Now back to Hunter and his father.

The mayor wanted some kids to torture and Hunter wanted his own freedom so the two agreed to strike a deal.

The deal was that Hunter would make me fall for him and trick me into coming to this place when it's ready. This would also be a way to help him practice his acting skills on me as well. If he succeeds in doing so then he can pursue his acting career and his older stepbrother will take his place as the next in line.

Now why did the mayor wanted me so bad that he sent his son after me? Well because I really was the best in my whole city. I could fight. I could write. I could cook. I could do any sport. I could take any job. Basically, I could do everything. I was the perfect kid.

Not being self centred or anything by the way. I actually sometimes hate it. I hate being perfect. Perfection is what got me into this in the first place. I just wanted to have some loyal friends, a happy family, and a peaceful life. I didn't want interviews and talent hunters and fake friends. I never asked for it.

Anyways, back to the story.

I was just a sixteen year old girl when they took me away. But now that I am finally free, I am a fully grown twenty six year old woman.

For ten years I was subjected to their torture. For ten years I was treated as an experiment.
And after ten years of trauma I finally set myself free again just six months ago.

Only this time I am stronger and smarter.

Because yes, they did manage to enhance our abilities. But in the worst way possible. And they will continue to do so. Not to one. Not to two. But to hundreds of other innocent children.

So now I, Alice Phoenix, have decided that I am going to get them all out of that hellhole. I will burn the ICE and free every one who suffers in there.

More importantly, I will destroy every single one of them because they all contributed into destroying the only people I loved.

They killed everyone I loved. And you don't come at my loved ones.

Because when you do, I get pissed. Really really pissed. And when I am pissed, I get back at you ten times worse.

This is all about revenge and freedom. My people will get their killers dead and the rest of the children will get their freedom.

Now I am gonna be the fire to their ice.

Cause you don't mess with a Phoenix and get away with it.

Although I planned the prologue to be short because I put all the details in that "important stuff" chapter because I didn't want to bore you all with details in the middle of the story, but I know that the majority of you will ignore it or forget it so I am gonna have to write it all again as I go along with the story.
