Pepper's PoV:
"We have to cut back on spending and acquisition and focus more on research. Also, you're giving a speech next week, I believe on...Tuesday, yes. On Tuesday. At the University of Science in Philadelphia. Jet departure's at 9am. Tony? Are you listening? Anthony Edward Stark!"
"Don't call me that." the scientist replied irritated. The strong odor of alcohol hit my nose.
I sighed. He could be so annoying sometimes. I didn't get why he never listened to me, I mean, Stark Industries was his business, right? I was just his assistant. And also his sister in law..but here at work, I managed his appointments and stuff like that.
"Did you hear what I said?" I asked, with a dogged undertone.
"To your surprise, Yes, I did."
"Okay then, what did I say?" I asked, knowing he couldn't respond to that.
He took another sip out of his glass, filled with scotch "Another speech for kids with big dreams and high hopes?" he replied with an overstated, ironic voice.
I handed him the paper with all the information. Explaining him everything over and over again would only stress me out and take an unnecessary amount of time
He thanked me with a forced smile and left.
God! Why did he need to be so difficult to talk to when he was drunk. We'd known each other for 10 years now, but yet, he still managed to piss me off every goddamn time. My mother and I had moved in with Tony and his dad when I was 16. I think Tony has never really accepted us as a part of his family. After the death of his beloved mother, he's started to drink in an unhealthy amount.
But that wasn't an excuse to behave this rude towards everyone else. He was a genius, billionaire, known playboy and, however, a philanthropist. Tony Stark - the one and only Iron Man. A superhero, earth's best defender. But still, one night stand after one night stand after one night stand. And who had to throw out the - still drunk as hell - women the next morning? Correct. His assistant slash sister in law.
As if I hadn't enough things to do. Work has been extremely exhausting lately and I've begun to think that I might need an assistant as well.
