Before we start, sorry if this is bad, it's my first one xx
'Hey Sophie, we're thinking about doing head to head team challenges, but one of us is gonna need a partner,' George said, 'wanna join?'
'Depends on who I get paired with,' you replied, giving him a cheeky wink, 'I won't if it's you.'
'Rude!' he grinned, 'but you're gonna pick a name out of this bowl.' He passed me the bowl with the three pieces of paper that contained their names, one of them my team mates. Drawing my hand into the bowl, I produced one and read it aloud.
'Blake, you're with me,' I declared, throwing the paper back into the bowl, 'what's the first challenge?'
'Salsa dancing. We have to go to the local dance studio and practice for the day, then we have to perform to Joe, Ben and Brad later,' said Reece, stretching.
'Oh, we are so gonna beat you! Me and Blake dance all the time.'
'But just for fun, we're not professional dancers,' Blake chimed in, being rewarded with an elbow to the ribs.
'Let's see, shall we?' George answered, standing up and leaving the room.A little while later, me and Blake were sat on the floor of the dance studio watching salsa dancing tutorials for beginners.
'I don't think we're gonna win,' B said quietly, looking me in the eyes.
Leaning towards him, I giggled and whispered, 'Neither do I, but if we're gonna fail, we've gotta do it in style.'
Standing up, I took his hand and helped him to his feet. 'Well, since Joe and Brad decided to go out and buy our outfits earlier, all we need to do is learn the basic moves and make it our own.'
A few hours later, after practising the moves, we were ready to perform. These were our outfits:
Sophie:
Blake:
Reece:
George:
(Sorry George's is a bit plain)
As we entered the studio, Joe announced who was starting the competition.
'George, Reece, you're up first. Soph, Blake, come have a seat,' he said, gesturing to the fold-up chairs beside him. 'You're going to be scored out of ten in three categories - skill, enthusiasm and individuality. G, Reece, off you go.'
This song plays for both
George and Reece begin dancing, wiggling their hips as I've never seen them wiggle them before. They glide through the air like graceful swans, making only the tiniest of mistakes.
Suddenly, towards the end of their performance, I felt a nudge. 'They're gonna be hard to beat, but I wanna try.' Blake whispered, a determined look in his eyes.
'We'll do it,' I responded, squeezing his arm, and preparing to stand as the boy's performance finished and they headed over to the seats.
'Sophie, Blake, you ready?' Joe asked.
'Ready as I'll ever be,' I muttered, loud enough so only Blake could hear.
Smiling, he offered me his hand and winked. 'You ready to beat their butts Soph?'
'Let's do this!' I replied, spinning into him.
A few minutes later, we finished our routine, and stood facing the judging panel, waiting for them to announce the results.
'It was a hard decision, but we have made our choice. Both pairs performed brilliantly, with very few mistakes. You both moved with effortless grace and elegance, but one pair did that slightly more - and that pair was Sophie and Blake!' Joe declared.
Excited, Blake picked me up, swirled me round and hugged me. When he pulled away, he lent in and kissed me. Shocked, I stood there, then kissed him back. Everyone stood watching, then suddenly George shouted, 'I knew they liked each other! I told you Reece!'
Ignoring the commotion behind me, me and Blake bent heads and smiled. 'I always knew you were the One', he whispered.
