“But even when I stop crying, even when we fall asleep and I'm nestled in his arms, this will leave another scar. No one will see it. No one will know. But it will be there. And eventually all of the scars will have scars, and that's all I'll be--one big scar of a love gone wrong.” -Amanda grace

It was sooner the next time that he came back into the odd coffee shop, it felt better to be there now that he finally knew someone. Even though he would never say that out loud. Though unlike the day before this time he came in with  a dark purple mark spreading under his cheek. Along with an all around ache filling his body, that he was trying very hard to ignore.

Dean stepped into the dimly lit coffee shop. Making his way over to the peppy red head coffee server he had learned to be named charlie. He had caught her watching him and Castiel a few times. In a way that looked like she almost found them cute together. Which Dean would have been very offended by if he had cared about anything other then Castiel in that moment. Dean ordered his usual coffee and made his way across the room to his regular seats. Trying to ignore how his heart jumped when he saw Cas slouched over his computer.

"Hey Castiel" He said with slightly forced pep to his tone. Relishing in the way Castiel jumped, obviously having been half asleep when Dean had first walked in. "Hope I didn't interrupt anything important" he teased sitting down stiffly next to Castiel. His sadness and numbness melting away, quicker then usual. Castiel always seemed to have a way of doing that.

"No you were not interrupting anything. Well, nothing important at least" Castiel replied stretching his arms as he spoke. Dean would have been impressed at how Cas seemed totally unfazed. If he had actually believed Castiel was capable of feeling embarrassed.

"Whatever you say buddy" Dean mumbled with a small chuckle, shifting in his seat as he tried to get more comfortable. His gaze moved to look out the window.  Dean took a sip of his coffee wincing at the bitter taste. “Though I have to disagree, Sleeping is very important"

"Oh come on, you cant say that. You're a twenty something year old who spends his nights at a coffee shop. In ugly sweatshirts I might add." Castiel retorted, his gaze traveling slowly down Deans body.  Stopping short when they landed on the protruding mark on his chin. "Hey Dean… what’s with the bruise? Got into a fist fight?" he asked obviously trying to remain calm. Dean had to hand it too him, the boy seemed to be even better then him at only letting the emotions he wanted show through.

"Ha ha, very funny. I'll have you know that I in fact ran into a tree on my way over here" he mumbled out, knowing full well that the excuse was complete crap. But usually people simple dropped the subject after hearing the excuse. Seeing as they had sated there guilt with the idea that they had tried.

Castiels usual smile was replaced by a deep frown. His features making his expression look something akin to worry mixed with something else. But the expression was quickly covered up before Dean could actually figure out what it really was. "Well, it looks quite atrocious. Must have been a big tree" Cas muttered, and Dean for the first time could not tell if his friend was being serious.

"Yeah well you know me. I have a bad habit of running into stuff." He said with a small empty laugh. It sounded loud in the nearly empty coffee shop. Causing him to feel suddenly microscopic.
