🌸
I wake my up my eyes closed shut.
I can hear the distant beep beep and the shuffling of newly polished shoes.
"She waking" a husky male voice murmured.
I lie still as a rock trying to pretend to sleep but they weren't convinced.
"Come on sleeping beauty don't keep me waiting"
I cringe at his cruel sarcastic tone and regrettably peel my eyes open.
I see A broad shouldered man wearing a creased white lab coat and perfectly slicked black hair.
"Now" he says prodding me with some metal instrument "We have a few questions for you"
I nod and look around at my surroundings.
I am unmistakably in a hospital and a very fancy one to.
Each bed has a white curtain hung around it.
A few doctors and nurses rush around clutching tools and medical equipment, sliding on the polished white tiles.
Others stand around quietly chatting and sharing patients diagnoses like good friends.
A few doctors in neatly ironed coats holding medical bags and notebooks steep down the hall and into my little cubical.
They smile and greet the other man, shaking his big hairy hands.
One of the doctors offered me a hand shake but I ignored him looking over at the white wall beside me.
I hate doctors.
Their horrible poking you and experimenting on people like guineapigs.
"Hello there" says a voice behind me.
I can hear that he's talking to me but I don't leave my locked gaze on the wall.
"I know this might be scary but we need you to talk to us"
Still I lie silently.
" Darl we really need you to talk" says a raspy Australian accent.
What awnsers I think. What do they need.
"Can we have a name at least?"
A name, I think... That's right my name.
Uhhh. Suddenly I realise it, I don't know my name.
It has to be here somewhere.
I close my eyes and think so hard my brain feels like it's melting and oozing out my ears.
Somebody pokes me relishing me from my trance.
I flinch and spin around.
The three men look at me and tilt their heads as if their examining some exotic animal.
I grit my teeth.
"What is your name" the Aussie man says as if he's trying to communicate with an alien.
"I-II" I stutter "I can't remember"
One of the doctors nods pulling out a clip board and starts scribbling away.
"Are you sure Honey" the Aussie bloke says impatiently.
I nod my head on the verge of tears.
I can't remember my f***ing name.
I start to cry like full on sobbing.
My eyes are fogging and my breathing comes up in choked gasps for air.
As I lie there crying like a baby the doctors depart leaving me alone.
Why can't I remember.
I try to picture something or someone, anything.
My mum, my dad, sister, brother, pet?
Nothing. Ever... Nothing nothing nothing.
My mind is blank and my eyes sting from the salty tears flowing from them.
