It all began in Canada. I was sitting in a lab. It was big and white. The scientists were dressed in white. Chemicals lined the shelves that were near me. All in white bottles. There was light all around, an unnatural grey light, but no windows. My parents stood anxiously by, waiting. Rats and mice lined the walls. Some had human ears growing out of their sides. I shuddered. Now I was a guinea-pig. My severe allergies had driven my parents and myself to extreme measures. I was scared, but I felt hopeful. "It has to work! It just has too!" I thought to myself.
"Now, don't worry, my dear. This will only take a quick second." Dr Menon's voice was assuring and confident as prepared the serum. The needle looked incredibly big.
I shut my eyes. He gently lifted my arm. He raised the needle and stabbed it into my arm. Something was wrong. I could feel it. I struggled. His grip became like iron. "Let me go!" I screamed. "Almost there, my dear, almost!" The liquid flowed into my arm. It was burning, like acid. I clawed at it with my free hand. "That wasn't so bad now, was it?" Dr Menon smiled reassuringly. I shook my head feeling dizzy. I looked him in the eye and saw a brilliant bright flash of light. Then, everything went black.Do you ever wonder how judges decide a person's verdict? Especially when there is hardly any evidence for or against them? When everything about a case is a complete mystery, but someone is definitely to blame? Or even the verdicts that would call for the execution of a guilty person? Do you ever wonder about those? Well, I am one of the very few people who actually know how it's done. You see, I used to make the decision. I wasn't a judge or a lawyer, but I always had the last say in every case and every trial. Always. Murders, abuse, government spies, terrorists, assassins.... I judged hundreds of them. Many of them were so awful that I won't even mention their crimes.
But I don't have to do that now. And I think I am going to feel better about telling my story. This is nothing but the truth. But now, I can finally lie.
So, what do you think of it so far?
