"Ma'am...are you all right in there?" the driver inquired.
"Yeah....just drive fast... take me home, I am terrified" I wept.
He drove really fast and desperately fought with the steering wheel for control, but the car weaved all over the road. We reached and he parked the car in my open garage. The car rocked slightly with a gust of wind. I walked around to the driver's side, ducking my head into the car. I pulled out my bags and locked all the windows and doors.
I took a deep, ragged breath, and turned away from the car and went up to my room.
It was three in the morning when I heard an unpleasant sound from my kitchen....Did that sound mingled in his imagination!
"Is anybody out there?..." I yelled.
I locked my room door and stepped back. I again heard a noise.... Tears rolled down and my mouth was plastered, I had no courage left to say a word. I crawled under my bed and spent the rest of the night.
In the morning when I woke up I banged my head on the bed. I moved out and unlocked all doors and windows. I called for my driver and asked him to take me to my office. I dressed up and left.
"Good morning, ma'am, how was your night" the driver asked.
That was not a question I was expecting...early in the morning, from my driver... I doubted.
"Yeah, pretty good..." I lied.
I entered the office and Luke guided me till the second floor. I was not feeling safe with him. I was pretty sure that he followed me the other night. I am not sure whether he has good intention or bad, but a good guy would never follow a girl till her house without her permission.
"Hello...Luke and Naira, meet Holly, she just got transferred from the other branch...." Martin introduced.
"That is amazing... good to see you" Luke said with excitement.
It felt like they loved each other and were apart for a long time. They hugged each other and giggled.
Martin left, I could hear his footsteps diminish."Hello Naira... nice to meet you," Holly said calmly
"Yeah, same here.... I think I should get to work," I said and gave them space...enough space to talk among themselves.
I continued with my assignment. At around two in the afternoon, Martin came to me and told me that I was catching up too fast. It made me feel better. I wanted to concentrate on my work rather than other stuff.
Luke didn't come up to me so often.... I could hear them talking in the distance.
I didn't bother him, I tried to manage every little problem on my own. I was not enjoying the fact that I am a dependent person."Hey, how's it going?..." someone asked, the voice didn't feel familiar....
"Sorry, who is this?...." I asked.
"I am Beth....we met the other day," she answered.
I tried to recall... but I was not sure whether I heard the name Beth or not.
I didn't react much, we talked for a couple of minutes and while she was leaving she invited me to her place. I didn't assure her whether I'll visit her or not.......Evacuate the office, I could hear people squall. Move out everyone, move out as presently as possible.
I sprang from my chair and ran along with the others. I held different hands and eventually moved out of the front gate. I had absolutely no idea what was going on.
I stood there still waiting for somebody to come up to me... and tell what was wrong....
