Chapter II - Mind

Stepping out onto unknown territory, you cocked your gun to refill. 

This is-

Mars.

What?

You were confused as to how this place became so abandoned. Aren't there supposed to be safety protocols?

Argh!

You collapsed to the floor in pain as your head felt like it was splitting into fragments. Clutching your helmet in a desperate attempt to soothe the pain, you weren't expecting to experience rapid memories flooding your system.

Flashback

"y/n? We're here."

You walked into a derelict building of a ghost town, which you remember being called "Ambrius", with someone next to you. In your peripheral vision, you could make out that they were clad in white armour, glowing a somewhat blue tint, and an ancient-looking helmet, that similar to one of a human Knight would have worn back in the Medieval era of Earth.

Knight sentinels?

Knight sentinels, I remember...

"We should check the perimeter, it's not safe."

"Let's go," you exclaimed.

Walking around the area, you spotted rusted metal, ripped bin bags, crumbling walls and red sand pilling up in covens. 

Mars... but how?

"I wish we were home..." 

"Y/n... this is our job. We vowed our life to this. We must protect our people from Hell."

"I know, but sometimes-"

"I know. Me too..."

Sighing, you kept walking, checking nooks and crannies for any potential threats. You could hear your comm buzzing with white noise louder every time you took a step forward.

"Hey, do you hear that white noise in your comm?"

Silence.

"Are you there?"

Silence.

Turning around, you quickly traced back your steps with a fast pace, scanning the area again.

"Repeat, are you there?"

"Y-Y/n? H-- I'm lo---in--"

"Hey! Where are you? You were behind me. Give me your location"

"Behi--nd"

"Where?"

"You"

Turning around, you saw nothing. What was he talking about?

"Where are you?"

Silence.

Shit! We were already separated from the group, now this?

You need to find him, y/n. 

Walking and walking, you could see his footprints etched into the sand. Thank lord. 

You followed them carefully, making sure to look up for anything lurking once in a while, but when the trail came to an end, it stopped abruptly in front on a stone wall high up. It was massive. However, there was nothing around it. It was standing in the barren land.

A vero stultus... (1)

"Hello?"

"Who are you? Where did you take him? Answer me!"

"Who are you?!"

Present

The pain in your skull started to wither, and it felt like your brain was slowly sewing itself back together into one piece. You opened your eyes to see the blinding red hue, and your body shivered from the immense weakness clouding over it. Slowly, you got up in pain, hissing as your bones cracked into place. 

What the hell happened? What did that voice say?

You started walking again, down the steep path to a ledge. Jumping down, you started to feel your strength building up again.

I'm okay. I'm okay.

Thinking the mantra whilst you started to see the pack of demons enter your vision, you smirked.

Hello guys! It's been sooooo long since I last wrote this, and to be honest I eyeballed this with no clear storyline because I had no idea what to base this chapter on. But I just did look upon knight sentinels so I thought I'd incorporate them into this chapter.

For you guys to understand what's going on here, this is a flashback chapter, and a beginning couple of chapters will mostly be fixated on your so you understand what your "character" is essentially like. 

Anyways, here are the translations from Latin to English!
