I wanted to cry and cry, but I was so numb that I couldn't.
"Fitz," I tremble. "I'm so, so sorry-
Keefe cuts me off. "Please Fitz. It wasn't her fault. It was mine."
I can't look Fitz in the eye. My heart is too broken.
" I can't believe both of you!" Fitz fumes. "Sophie, I thought you were better than this! And Keefe," He chokes up. "My best friend I never thought..." He takes a step back, his hands rubbing his temples. I want to run up and hug him, tell him I'm sorry but I can't. Keefe looks at me desperately.
"Sophie, I'm so sorry." Keefe rasps. "This is all my fault." I shake my head. I can't deal with Keefe right now.
Fitz turns around and looks me dead in the eye. "Choose." I was taken off guard when he said this, my mind slowly processing what he said.
"Wha-what?" I can feel myself shaking.
Fitz looks at me in a way I've never seen him before. His eyes full of hurt, anger, and a fierce, tiresome love. "Choose. It's either me or Keefe." My eyes widen. No. He didn't just ask me that! I've known Fitz and Keefe for so long, and I'm not willing to destroy my relationships with either one of them. We've been through so much together.
"No. I won't!" I sob. Fitz looks like he was just punched in the stomach. My heart aches for him, but even more so, it aches for what I'm loosing. His trust. His love. His friendship.
"Fitz I'm sorry! But you can't just expect me to choose! You guys are the best friends I've ever had! I'm not just willing to give that up! I can't loose you or Keefe!" I explode, my heart pounding. I feel drained and dead inside. "I can't loose both of you." My hurts and I feel dizzy. The room begins to spin, and my ears ring louder and louder until I can't hear any more.
"Sophie?" Keefe says in alarm . "Sophie!" I see red everywhere and stars cloud my vision. The last thing I see, are the panic-stricken faces of my friends, before I collapse. And then, everything goes dark.
