I sat at the corner of Declan's scruffy futon and sighed in content as I finally finished Othello. I closed the book and center set it on the coffee table beside me, vaguely aware of my surroundings as Alex interrupted my thoughts.

"Pfft, finally. Are you going to hang out with us now?" She piped up as she hugged her knees to her chest while sitting across from Declan. The ashy-haired boy laughed as his mouth turned up into a grin, his blue eyes glinting in his living room lighting.

Declan Aimes was Alex's lab partner freshman year of college. After battling through the toils of first-year human biology, Declan and Alex became friends. Therefore, since I was Alex's best friend, then it only made sense that we all became friends due to common hangout times.

It's not that I was irritated by Declan, no, he was a pretty down to earth guy. Honestly, he was like an older brother to me, as he always pestered and took care of me. The only downside was that every time we hung out, he smokes an immense amount of weed. Again, not that I'm against it, I would much rather not have my clothes smell like marijuana for the whole week. Luckily, he didn't have the audacity to smoke in our apartment when he visited. The first time he asked, I quickly laid down some ground rules so I could have my own safe space, much to Alex's protests.

I looked between Alex and Declan and watched his blue eyes shift to look over at Alex, who was paying more attention to her phone. It was ironic considering she was pestering me about not hanging out with them. His gaze stayed a little normal than necessary on my best friend before he turned towards me to ask me something. "So, you two went out last night?"

I nodded and saw Alex lift up her head, "Yeah. My stomach is still kinda churning."

He groaned as he leaned back, stretching his long legs and arms as he enveloped the couch. "I wish I didn't work all day yesterday, I would've been down to get fucked up."

Alex butted in, "It's not like we would've invited you. It was a girl's night!" She giggled and winked at me, as if we had some secret to share, even though we didn't.

"Oh yeah? Girl's night for what?"

She pursed her pink lips, "Because I wanted to, plus we had a heart to heart about Mia's relationship status.

He looked over to me and gave me a weird look, "Relationship status?"

I glared at Alex as I huffed out, "She's just desperately trying to get me laid for no apparent reason. It's one of her latest life goals - getting me fucked by some random stranger."

She rolled her eyes, "No, that is not what I said earlier! I said I would be happy if you found someone - sexually, romantically, or whatever Mia's do nowadays with other people." She turned towards Declan, "She flirted with an Adair."

He lifted an eyebrow, "An Adair? Shit, how'd you even get up close to one?"

"Excuse me?" I leaned back in my seat as I looked between the two of them, "What are you talking about? Why the hell are you talking about Dilan Adair as if she's a rare Pokemon?"

Declan grinned cheekily, "Nice reference," he paused, "You don't know Adair Liquor Distribution?" I gave the two of them a blank look. Why the hell would I know about that?

Alex groaned and ran her hand over her face in irritation, "Mia, we went to school with Dilan. How did you not know how she was so stinking rich?" She motioned all around her to emphasize a point she was about to bring up, "The Adair's are the only ones that have the rights to liquor distribution in all of Central and Upper Michigan." Oh, I guess that would explain why Dilan was still in Michigan. Still, why would she not opt to move out of state for college?
