PART 1; FINDING OUT
PROLOGUE))
"Rayin.." my dad's grum voice said from my bedroom door, jolting me from another bad dream, "You're late. Get up." he warned, before walking off somewhere else in the house.
I blinked my eyes open, and stared at my new ceiling for a second, 'Another new school. Friggan perfect..' I thought, rolling out of bed and walking over to the boxes of clothes in front of my closet. I changed out of my pajamas into a dark black t-shirt that my aunt gave me before she died, it had red lettering that spelled out "Untouchable" For some weird reason the t-shirt meant a lot to my aunt.
I slipped on a pair of frayed jeans, with a couple holes on the knees, and slipped on my socks and shoes quickly.
My dad popped his head in my bedroom door, "You ready?"
I nodded, "Yeah."
We both ran out into his black Chevy truck, and laughed.
"You won kiddo." he chuckled lightly
"I smoked you!" I added, smiling.
My dad just shook his head, smiling, and started pulling out of the driveway.
As we got to the edge of the driveway, about to pull out on to the now empty road, my dad turned his head to say something to me, but I saw it first. The truck-almost three times the size of my dad's-barreling down the street towards us.
"Dad! Look!" I pointed to the truck, only getting closer, my eyes wide with fear.
My dad turned his head, and slammed the brakes, but he must have knocked them too hard, because we only slowed a little, and the truck coming at us seemed to have no intention of stopping.
Before we had time to assess what was going to happen, The truck slammed into my dad's front end, sending both trucks skidding down the empty intersection. I grabbed the dash-bar, and kept my grip tight as the sudden jerk sent me against the door.
I squeezed my eyes shut. Big mistake. I was slammed harder into the car door, and hit my head on the window, breaking it.
Finally, after several long minutes, of thrashing, and hitting my sides and arms against the door and seat, everything went silent, and still.
I took a deep breath, which made me wince from a pain in my ribs, and opened my eyes, looking to my dad, only to see he was passed out, slumped over the steering wheel in an awkward position that couldn't be comfortable.
I started to panic, struggling to frantically undo my seatbelt buckle, but I relaxed when I saw his chest moving steadily.
There was a tap-more like a knock-on my side of the truck, and I forced the truck door open, best as I could.
"Ma'am you okay?" asked the tall man who stood at my side of the broken, and crashed vehicle.
I nodded barely, "I-I'm fine.." my words were barely audible, but he just nodded, looking to my dad. He cursed under his breath, and ran over to help my dad.
My already shaking hands, fumbled with the release button on my seatbelt buckle, trying to get it undone. Once I finally got it to click, I staggered out of the truck, nearly falling to the ground, only to be steadied by a grip on my arm, holding me up.
"Thanks.." I mumbled, as the person let me go.
"You okay?" the person asked, as I looked up at the boy. He was was also tall, but he was muscular, but not too muscular, like he worked out for a day or so, and just started to stop getting sore.
I nodded slightly, "Yeah, I'm okay."
He nodded slightly. His hair was dark brown, like the color of fresh dirt, and his skin was tanned, from long days in the sun. I rested my gaze on his eyes, and my jaw nearly dropped. His eyes were a gorgeous bright blue-with an almost glow-like significance.
Almost as if he knew, he dropped his gaze to the ground, as who I assumed was his father, walked back over to me.
"Guess I owe ya' a ride to school?" He offered.
I shook my head, "No. It's fine, I'll just walk." I smiled weakly, despite stinging pain all over my body, and the fact it hurt to breathe, to reassure the man. I took a few steps, but stumbled, only to be steadied again by Adam's grip on my arm.
"Thanks..." I mumbled, as he let my arm go again. He just kept his gaze down.
When Adam finally looked up, he seemed to be holding back a smirk, as if he was glad I was mortally shocked.
"What?" I asked, impulsively.
Adam just shook his head, and looked to his dad, "I'll drive? He plooks like he needs to go to the E.R."
Adam's dad opened his mouth to protest, but Adam was already leading me to the monstrous truck.
