Five years later...
It was a beautiful sight, the colours yellow, orange and pink glowing in the sky, surrounding a large warm orange ball glowing brightly between the mountain peaks. Cherry was standing beside her and her sisters' cave, gazing at the calm sunset. Yes, Cherry remembered it, the same sunset she had seen when she had just hatched. The glowing clouds circling the sky, just like now. It looked like they were traveling somewhere, disappearing behind the mountains. Maybe she could fly up there, over the mountain peaks, and watch where they're going. Or maybe she could even touch them. Cherry would love to feel the soft cotton feeling if she could, but maybe they'll all disappear before she could get to them! Cherry spread her wings and was just about to leap into the sky when a reminder hit her.
Oh...right, Cherry thought, lowering her wings.
How could she forget such a thing? Cherry and her sisters, Aqua and Skylark were supposed to stay hidden in their cave. After Cherry had hatched, she had a feeling it would be best to stay hidden than be with everyone else. It seems weird, hiding in one spot and have everyone else walking around carelessly, not fearing of being discovered. It was like...you as a moon, lurking around only at night, where nobody will notice you, compared to everybody else as the sun, carefree and free, not minding one bit if a dragon sees them. Even Cherry is still annoyed sometimes with her own rules, and of course Aqua and Skylark too. But she knows her sisters secretly agreed with her. They had the same instinct, after all. And now as they hide in a cave they had found, they have nothing important to do.
Suddenly, a big splash of water came pouring onto Cherry's snout, and she could feel the piercingly cold water sinking into her scales.
SPLASH
"Hey!"
Cherry turned around to face the mini lake to expect Aqua there, laughing like crazy, but to only see no one there. Cherry looked closely and spotted a few bubbles bubbling from the edge of the lake. She guessed Aqua was deep down there, laughing underwater. That would explain the bubbles.
"What was THAT for?!" Cherry exclaimed, trying to ignore the little drops of water dripping from her snout, knowing Aqua would hear her voice. Suddenly a turquoise dragon bursted from the surface of the water, laughing.
"THAT WAS FUNNY!" Aqua blurted, failing to stop laughing. She continued laughing very hard, as if she could go on forever. Cherry kept on glaring at her for what seemed like eternity, until she finally stopped laughing.
"Well, how would YOU like to get splashed by freezing water?" Cherry shot. "Especially when it have interrupted you from something!" Aqua just rolled her eyed and smiled.
"Haven't I mentioned this? I'm a SEAWING." She teased, giving Cherry a fake smile. "SeaWings can BREATHE underwater, so you'd think I'll be like, 'AHHHHHH!!! SOME DRAGON SPLASHED ME WITH FREEZING WATER!!!' ?"
Cherry opened her mouth to argue, but this was not the right time to. She didn't want to start an argument. So she just took a deep breath and asked, "Anyways, I haven't seen Skylark all day. D'you know where she is?"
Aqua looked thoughtful. "Go check her room, I bet she'll be there. I haven't seen her neither."
"Thanks," Cherry said as she walked along the edge of the lake towards their cave. Cherry have wondered lately about why Skylark wasn't hanging out with Aqua and her. Usually, she would play games with them all day, but sometimes would stay in her room studying scrolls she sneaked from the dragon kingdoms. She just didn't understand Nightwings. Why were they so interested in studying? She muttered to herself as she entered the entrance of their cave.
