Charlie ran out of the house, waving to her dad, Mike, before getting on her bike and riding off. This was something she would do every weekend, specifically Sunday afternoon after she had finished all her chores around the house. Riding off, she made her way to the towns local diner. She parked her bike at the bike stand and went inside. There were the usual people sitting in their normal seats as they do every Sunday, but Charlie' eyes fall onto one particular person, someone who she has never seen before, which was strange because this town was an extremely close community and she had seemingly known everyone, except that one girl. Charlie brushed it off as she went over to her normal seat at one of the booths, taking her seat as a well-known waiter, known as Joanne, came over to Charlies table.
"Well hello there Charlie, It's nice to see you again."
"It's good to see you again too Joanne."
"Let me guess, the usual?"
"Yeah, thanks."
Joanne walked off with her order as Charlie pulled out a book, something she did every time she came. She looked up every now and then and would catch the new girl staring at her, which would make her look away every time she was caught. Charlie continued reading her book, for what seemed like forever before her food finally arrived. She ate her food as she avoided looking or glancing at the strange girl the whole time. She made sure to finish quickly because all this staring was beginning to make her feel slightly nervous. Even though she knew almost everyone in the town, she felt anxious around new people. She stood up as she grabbed her things, quickly making her way out of the small structure as she got on her bike and pedaled home.
Charlie laid in her bed thinking about that girl in the diner, for whatever reason she couldn't get her out of her head. She was interrupted by a phone call, she picked up her phone and looked at the caller ID, it was her best friend, Lili. She quickly answered the call and held it to her ear.
"Hey Lili."
"Oh my god, did you hear about the new girl in town, I saw her earlier walking around earlier."
"I saw her in the diner, she wouldn't stop staring at me for some reason, anyways did you talk to her?"
"No, she walked away before I got the chance to say anything."
"Oh Okay."
"Well, Char, I gotta go, I'll see you at school tomorrow."
"Yeah, See ya."
Charlie hung up the phone as she put it on her nightstand. She stood up and walked over to her window, sitting in her rocking chair as she looked at the sky, she didn't know why but she always felt a special comfort while looking at the stars, like she would feel whenever her mom held her when she was little. She looked up at the stars, seeing a lone bright star, it was definitely way brighter then the other ones. She felt as if the star called out to her, she felt a connection. Though she quickly brushed it off and walked back over to her bed, laying down and thinking about todays events, slowly drifting off into a deep sleep.
Why hello fellow humans, I really hope you enjoyed this first chapter, I promise the others won't be so short, but if I were to continue this one then it would've been too long, but don't fear, I'm writing the next chapter after I publish this one.
