James quietly makes his way next to Adam, making a noise of contentment as he sits down. He shifts in place in an attempt to get comfortable. Once settled, he turns his head to soak in the sight of Adam. A smile immediatly finds it's way upon his lips. The soft glow of the TV does little to dampen Adam's features.

Just as his heart begins to flutter in his chest, Adam looks towards James. James glances away in mild surprise.

"Do you need anything? There's some lemonade in the fridge if you want any." Adam offers.

James opens and closes his mouth, looking to the floor for an answer. He struggles to fabricate a response. "What's your biggest fear?" He blurts out, cringing at the akwardness of his own words.

Wide-eyed at the sudden question, Adam repeats the question under his breath. Pausing, his eyebrows crease in pensive thought. A sad expression graces his face as he looks up at James, confident in his answer.

"You."

James reels back in shock. "Me?" He breaths out.

Adam turns back towards the TV, rubbing circles onto his own hand with his thumb.

The murmurs from the television mixed with Adam's shakey breathing is enough to make James believe he may have stumbled onto uncharted territory.

"I'm scared that one day you'll look in the mirror and see yourself as I see you. You will realize just how amazing you are and that you deserve better than me..."

The room goes completely silent as the noises of the TV fade into the background. James opens his mouth to respond, closing it when Adam raises his head to look James in the eye. The expression of both fondness and defeat James is met with causes a wave of nausea to wash over him.

"I'm terrified that you'll leave." Adam's hands are visably shaking.

Without hesitation James enwraps Adam in a hug, pulling him against his chest.

Adam grasps James' arm as he allows James to pull him closer. Softly exhaling as James rests his head on Adam's shoulder. Listening to the rapid beating of James' heart, he closes his eyes.

"I won't leave."

With that statement, Adam's eyes snap open as he wakes with a gasp.

The television fills the otherwise silent room with cheery voices. The sounds of the TV are in contrast to the feeling of the room. It lacks the previously warm atmosphere it once contained. There's now an emptiness to it that seeps into Adam's being.

Looking around the poorly lit room, tears begin to gather at the corners of his eyes as he chokes out a broken sob. He lowers himself onto the empty couch cushion next to him.

Tomorrow,
is James' funeral.

((So....How'd I do? I know it's kinda short but I hope it still hit the heart strings. '^'))
