"Ms. Pinnock?" my pen came to a hault as I heard my name being called from the teacher. I knew was about to come and looking down at my scribbled answers gave away that I hadn't done the assignment the night before.

Ms. Darp prompted her hands on her hips glaring at me with a raised eyebrow before opening her palm in my direction. I sighed in guilt and handed my scribbled paper to her awaiting hands.

"Remember class, homework is important and I suggest you do it in order to pass." she advised sternly before crumbling up the piece of paper and throwing it in the trash can.

I played with the cuffs on my sweater not wanting to see all of the faces that I felt staring at me. Luckily the bell had rung but Ms. Darp motioned for me to stay seated. I sat back down pretending to look for something in my bag trying to not cause more embarrassment to myself once they saw I had to stay after.

Once the door clicked closed I set the backpack down and waited for the lecture that I was soon to recieve. Ms. Darp stayed quiet for a moment before opening her mouth to speak only to be cut off by the phone ringing.

She held up a finger before turning to pick up the phone and use the sweet angel-like voice that wasn't close to the way she spoke in class.

"Another one? Well I hope he listens well, I have 30 kids and their already driving me bonkers." She whispered the last part thinking I couldn't hear, but I heard crystal clear. I folded my arms patiently waiting for her to get off the call so I could leave.

"Alright Susan fine." Ms. Darp gave up with a sigh before she hung up the phone and shook her head.

"We'll talk tomorrow Leigh-anne, go on ahead lunch." she ushered me out of the room and shut the door closed leaving me with relief.

A detention from her sure would have made me on my mother's up favorite people list this week. I clutched my books to my chest as I walked through the empty hallways making my way towards my locker.

"Guess who?" I felt a tug on my ear before it was snapped back into place making me shiver uncomfortably.

"An asshole?" I guessed, turning the lock until it popped open. A chuckle left his lips as he set his hands on my waist.

"No need for the name calling baby, what's got you all grumpy? Is it your cycle?" he joked before cackling at his own line. I slammed the locker shut after grabbing the brown paper bag ignoring the steps behind me.

"Don't walk away from me sweatheart, I know you love being in my prescence." I raised my eyebrow in shock before shaking my head, faking a laugh.

"I'm quite sure I wouldn't want to be around your annoying prescence, sweetheart." I mocked turning away from him and stalking towards the lunchroom doors, separating myself from him.

Nathan was his name and I couldn't stand to be around him for 3 seconds. We had gotten paired up for an English project and in my dreamy world it was going to be what I expected from the stories. Girl gets paired up with guy, they find common intrest, they hug, kiss, and live happily ever after.

My story on the other hand involved a spoiled bratty popular who didn't put any credit in the project except the grade. His flirtatious antics I found flattering at the beginning but after a while it got annoying especially when he got a girlfriend.

I could tell that it bothered his student council girlfriend but it seemed like he couldn't give a damn. Which made me annoyed at his presence all together.

"Leigh!" I blinked snapping out of my thoughts to see the green eyed brunette staring at my hand that now had a hold on the crumpled water bottle.

"Sorry Jess, just thinking." I explained shortly before releasing my grip on the bottle.

She chuckled nervously before speaking, "Don't apologize to me. Look, you hurt the water bottle." she grabbed the crushed plastic and shook her head.

I stifled a laugh before crossing my arms on the table. "What are you thinking about anyways?" she asked setting the bottle down before continuing to add croutons into her salad.

Jesy had already known about the type of character Nathan is and was. So giving her another story about my annoyance towards him wouldn't hurt.

"Nathan." I simply stated causing her to roll her eyes. I chuckled to myself as she grumbled profanity under her breath about him.

"Why are you thinking about him of all people?" she questioned sticking a fork into the salad and shoving it into her mouth.

"Another altercation in the hallway when I was coming back from Ms. Darp's class." I simply explained how he slipped out a silly joke about my period and his usual cockiness that never seems to go away.

"He's an arse." She stated once I finished my story. I simply nodded in agreement. Nathan had a presence that seemed to buzz around me like a fly that you can never swat.

Every word, movement he performed seemed to infuriate me to no end. I was cut off from thinking once Jessy changed the subject.

"So did you get the news that where getting another pitbull to join us." She asked referring to the new kid that Ms. Darp was talking about on the phone.

"I hope it's a guy. There's too many girls in this school." I pursed my lips to the side before slowly nodding at her words.

"I think it is because Ms. Darp said he, so I'm assuming It is a guy. She complained about having too many students already. I feel bad for her." I admitted taking a bite out of my sandwich.

"Ms. Darp is only upset because he's too young for her to date. You should feel bad for the woman, I do too." My eyes widened slightly at Jesy's words before I hit her playfully in the arm.

"Jesy, be nice. She's 39 years old and she still hasn't found someone. Maybe she should try one of those dating websites." I thought out loud causing Jesy to throw her head back and laugh causing me to grin in confusion.

It was impossible to atlease not grin when Jesy laughed. "Oh please, Ms. Darp on a dating website? Don't make me chuckle." she said shaking her head and finishing off her lunch.

I shrugged nonchalantly before throwing away my left overs.

"Come on we have a few more minutes, we should go to the park." I raised my eyebrow at the randomness of choice.

"The park of all places Jess, really?" she shrugged grabbing my arm as we sneaked past the lunch room monitor.

"It's not the one we go to onto the weekends. It's known to be a haunted park and since it's close to Halloween, why not right?" I sighed looking back into the lunch room to see that our disappearance didn't catch the attention of the teacher.

"Fine but only for a second, I don't want to be late for another class." I agreed following her as she led me to the park that caused uncomfortable butterflies to move in my stomache.
