PLUVIOPHILE (n.) a lover of the rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days Five o'clock in the afternoon.
As I entered La' Belle's café the scent of newly baked cookies, brewed coffee along with the soothing instrumental Ghibli music playing, instantly overwhelmed my senses. Heading towards my usual spot by the window, some of the staff smiled, some greeted me along the way, for sure by now they'd recognize me, I'm one of their regulars here.
'Mornin' Sam!' chirped Mary a brown-haired woman in her mid-30's was grinning from ear to ear who is now like a loving Aunt to me ... waved her hand from the counter.
'Morning Mary!' I enthusiastically smiled at her and waved back.
I'm always here at every end of my shift at the hospital, as a nurse with a hectic schedule, I needed a place to lay low, to rest for a while, and also because not only it's near my place but also it is where he works.
[insert¬_mild_sound_of_rain]This day just couldn't get any better, listening to the sudden pour outside, turning my head towards the glass windows, I couldn't stop myself from smiling.
It started to rain, what a nostalgic sight. It's funny cause I always get this warm heavy feeling in my chest that I can't say in words. It's there but I can't quite comprehend what it is. There's just something about the rain that makes me feel at peace, they look like shooting stars actually which makes me want to wish the impossible and seeing billions of raindrops crashing to the earth, for me it's like a scene of gentle chaos (does that even make sense) and the sound it makes is like music.
I laughed at the thought that I used to hate the rain but now I am enchanted by it.
Getting comfortable at my seat I placed my laptop on top of the table to finish the research I've been working on then finally called out to the staff to take my order.
It's like a weekend routine, I come here, place my order, and it is always him who takes it. Who's the him I'm talking about? Well, the first time that I came here he instantly got my attention and it was quite an embarrassing first encounter, his tall not-so-built physique, his slightly messy raven hair, his fair skin for (a guy), and don't get me started with his dazzling brown-almond eyes paired with his ever so charming smile. His name is Timothy Lau.
'Hello, Miss Sam, Nice to see you again. The usual?' he mused as soon as he arrived at my table.'Hi, Tim, yep one Snowy--- 'One Snowy Mocha Latte paired with a slice of our cheesy cheesecake Yup your forever usual, and is there anything else, Miss Sam?' – looking proud like a lion that he got my order right like he always does, he won't stop grinning...
'Oooh, nice one Tim! You were paying attention huh? Yes, just my usual today please' I can't help but laugh about such a trivial matter.
This grown man does sometimes act like a kid.
'And come on, stop with the 'Miss' I already told you can call me Sam months ago' reminding him of our deal. 'And may I remind you Miss Sam that I agreed when it's outside the café' he retorted and winked back.
'Alright, I give up. It's not fair' hands down I played his game.
'Of course, Miss Sam you're one of our valued customers, well then, I'll be back with your order in a minute' He then acted all chummy and bowed like one fancy butler.
I can't help but laugh at how he acted just now. He then went back to their counter. He is just a part-timer here at the café on weekends when he's free and some weekdays he's a kindergarten teacher. I didn't understand when Mary told me that about Tim.
