Chapter Three

I can't really say I was starstruck... More like I froze and had trouble breathing and even speaking. I wasn't screaming my lungs out, or charging at them, I just froze. My mind was instantly filled with questions. What should I do? Should I get their autographs or take a picture with them first? If I were to take a picture, which two of the boys should I stand between? It's so difficult to choose!

Then, I wondered why my reaction to the rest of the boys was so different compared to my reaction with Harry.

Surprising me, I felt multiple warm breaths on my forehead. I snapped out of my thoughts and found that Louis had approached to me, so close that I could smell his aftershave and see the ocean-coloured pupils in his eyes. He did a little wave with his hands as if searching if I was still on Earth. The other boys grinned at each other and shared a look. Seeing that I've returned from my daydream, Louis smiled cheekily and went back to join the boys on the couch.

"Oh! Sorry! I was having a fan girl moment." I apologized shyly. Harry's classic slanted grin across his face as he took my hand and led me into the boy's resting room.

"So, Harry, who's your bird?*(note, this is British for 'who's your friend' [usually a girl])" Liam asked casually with a raise of his eyebrows teasingly as Harry and I sat down next to the boys.

"Mates, this is Kaitlyn. I've accidentally brought her running with me when the paparazzi were in the middle of hunting me down. She happened to be a big fan of ours, so I thought that this might be an apology for tagging her alone in my business." Harry explained as his eyes pleaded the boys to understand. The boys shared a worried look but nodded understandingly.

"Hey, babe." They boys chorused a welcome. I nodded as I tried to find my voice. I've noticed that Liam's face suddenly turned into a grimace. What is it? Is it something that I did? Did he think I was impolite when I didn't greet them back? I wiped the drop of sweat on my forehead.

"Love, I've just noticed something." Liam started in a concerned tone. Everyone looked up from what they were doing. "The paparazzi must have taken a pic of you and Harry together. If they did, it'll definitely be on the headlines tomorrow. Are you prepared for that?"

Everyone went completely quiet, even Louis. All their smiles faded and their eyes all turned to me, and I saw the concern and worry in them. I looked at Harry. His leaf-coloured eyes stared back at me. I've waited for so long for this moment to happen. Anything is worth it. I nodded without hesitation.  A smile played on Harry's lips, as his eyes danced.

Liam looked pleased and announced, "That's great! Someone like you deserves a one day with 1D!"  All the boys' smiles were back now and they all nodded in agreement. My heart waltzed with happiness.

"How about let's start off with a game of Quickfire to break the ice and get to know each other more?" Niall suggested.

"That's a brilliant idea, Nialler!" Louis shouted, always ready for a game of Quickfire.
