i will be given a word and i will have to write a poem/ short story about that word.
the word given to me was:
ALARM
(short story)
The sound of alarms filled my ears and I felt tears spring into my eyes. This sound was like a punch into the stomach, and I felt my weak, pathetic legs turn to jelly. I looked into the skies as the Tornado Alarm rang through my ears. Dark stormy clouds formed above me, like Zeus's massive beard had covered the sky. I shuddered in my spot and ran down into the basement. I covered my ears and cried out to the Gods to save me. I felt the wind pound against the house. I prayed that this old building would stay up to protect me. The wind swirled around me and it bellowed out like a roaring train. My body rocked back and forth, and I scrunched against the wall squeezing my eyes as tight as they could go. I looked at the roof; or what was the roof. I saw the dark sky above me, and I stared at it in awe. Each detailed swirl of darkness surrounded me, and I felt my body lift from the ground. Floating through the air was exhilarating but terrifying at the same time. My body swarmed around and I felt my right rib get crushed by a brick. I screamed out in pain and agony wishing it would all stop. The grayness overcame me and all I could see was the dark grey clouds. The air tasted like dirt and smoke, and my face was blown dry form the wind. I felt my body sling around and my arm and legs flaring like crazy, the wind had total control over me. I then saw the rest of my house becoming closer and closer, and my stomach rising into my throat as I knew my death was near. I looked out one last time, to see the sun shiny sadly in the distance. I smiled.
