Chapter One: In Years Prior

Reiyo had just woken up, and was hit with the sensation of happiness, or rather, the feeling of being content. It was like the feeling one gets in their childhood years when they sleep in and wake up to the smell of food being cooked, along with the sound of the rest of their family talking and laughing. It's a nostalgic feeling...

Reiyo had gotten up to go and see what everyone else was up to. His mother, Lavi, was cooking fried eggs and bacon while having a conversation with his brother Aaron. So Reiyo walked into the kitchen to ask what they were talking about, but as soon as he walked into the kitchen, they stopped talking to each other and they shared this... look....

Reiyo immediately knew that something was up, but he chose to figure out what was up in more of a sneaky way. "Wow Mom, the food smells great..." He said in a reserved tone. She gave him an odd look before responding with, "Thanks sweetie, I really try my best with the cooking, even though I'm not the best cook." Reiyo just shrugged and smiled, even though he had this really weird feeling in the back of his mind like something bad was going to happen.

"Oh yeah!" Aaron exclaimed, "I went out and got you something this morning Rei! I went and found this cool necklace!" He held it up for Reiyo to see. It was a gold chain necklace with three heart charms, one made from a ruby, one made from an emerald, and one made from Topaz. Each of them were about the same size, and looked to be about the same weight.

It fit him perfectly, as if the necklace was made specifically with him in mind. Either that, or it adjusted to him, which he found highly unlikely. Still, it was nice for Reiyo to have this, and he knew that he would keep it with him forever, solely because it would remind him of his brother in the years to come.

**************************************

That day went like any other day had back then, Aaron away on campus, and Reiyo awaiting his arrival back home. But this day would prove to be different than the rest, this day would be life-changing for Reiyo...

Aaron however, knew exactly what would happen that day. Aaron knew that his death was inevitable, he knew that that day was his last day alive. That is why he gave Rei the necklace with the sacred elements. Aaron had also left him The Book, so that Reiyo could figure out why things had to happen the way the did. So Aaron could finally explain his patron without having to explain it.

Aaron also knew that Reiyo would need to forgive in order to survive. Rei didn't need to forgive Aaron, he need to forgive the one who killed him. This was the key to his brother's survival, along with his own death, which was a step Aaron had learned to expect...

As Aaron's free period drew nearer, he began to mentally prepare himself for what was going to happen next. Eventually, his free period came, so he did the only sensible thing, he ran into the alleyway where he knew it was going to happen...

Aaron Sonarhc was found dead that night, struck dead by a quick slit of the throat......

So how did I do with this? Feedback helps me work on breaking writing habits that people don't like, so it would be greatly appreciated if someone would give me feedback. Also, I'm working out a writing schedule right now, so things may be uploaded randomly until then.
