<3
hey hey. i apologize for this whole story being in all lowercases. i typed this in my notes and i'm too lazy to fix all the names and first letters of sentences and stuff. but i hope you enjoy this and i might consider making all my longer stories into their own little books. cause i want all the chapters in this book to be less wordy like they were before. anyway enjoy :)
. . .
just another mediocre day. they've all been for the past two weeks.
the same old boring days since school ended.
. . .
today is just the same as yesterday and the days before.
i wake up and crack open my book, my little sister's already up watching some youtube video, my older sister is still asleep, and my parents in their room with my mom probably up and playing candy crush and my dad snoring away beside her.
we all eventually properly get up and have breakfast, watch the news or some tv show, my little sister sets up the table, then we eat lunch, my parents get ready for work once their done, my older sister unsets the table and clears out our dish rack, and i wash the dishes.
after that, we all go our own ways: little one playing on her phone or watching my older sister play sims 4; i go to my parents room and write or read some downloaded books.
i wait for the computer to start up and load all the applications like a snail running in a race against usain bolt. i turn to my phone and continue writing my short story.
of course, of a little romance between the cliche best friends.
i click around on my screen's keyboard. i think i should be practicing on my driving around the neighborhood, but my parents have the car and i'm stuck with the van, maybe i'll wait until tomorrow for practice.
tick. tick. tick.
the weird noise is coming from the window. we live on the ground floor of the apartment building, why would someone play romeo and throw rocks at eye level?
i groan and shuffle my feet into my house shoes to the window. i move the curtain aside and open the blinds. a boy—around my age—is standing on the other side of the glass.
he's wearing a plain white v-neck t-shirt, a pair of colorful teal shorts, and brown boat shoes that look like they haven't been broken in yet. he has a slim face with freckles around his round nose, rosy cheeks, bushy eyebrows, high hair parted to one side, and big bright blue eyes like the color of the sky today.
i've never seen him a day in my life.
he points to the laches of the window and mouths words in the form of telling me to unlock them. i do so with my eyebrows scrunched together with confusion. why am i doing this?
i struggle to crack it open just enough to be able to talk to him. "can i help you?" i ask looking around him for some friends or family members nearby, but i don't see anyone standing around.
"yeah. hi, are you sydney?" he has the biggest grin on his face.
"who wants to know?" i cross my arms defensively, even though we have a boundary of glass and a mesh screen between us.
"me. i'm kyle. you've heard of me around your school," but school hasn't been in session for about three months now, "but i was wondering if we could go out sometime."
why is this random boy asking me out? again, i've never seen him before, so why should i give him an answer.
i try to close the window, but the hinges don't let me slide it easily. kyle reaches his hand out in desperation and tells me to wait and hear him out. "i know that you don't know me. and i've only heard of you from my friends, but i think we could make something out of this don't you think? i mean look at you and then look at me."
