⠀⠀We the people have been walking this Earth for thousands of years. What have we accomplished? Absolutely nothing. It could be argued, but listen; please. Walking this beautiful planet we have not only left a footprint showing we are here but also our toxic lifestyle.

———————————————————————

⠀⠀I jolted upright from my bed. As I look over the clock read 4:28 AM. Rubbing my eyes as the horrific events escaped my mind one by one, although still lingering. I roll out of bed sleepily and walk into my bathroom. Looking into the mirror I stare at myself. My ocean blue eyes stand out against my fair light skin dotted with sun-kissed freckles. My long strawberry blonde hair is a knotted mess in a messy bun on the top of my head. I lean over turning on the cold water, and splash it against my face gently.

⠀⠀I'm not going to be able to sleep; I might as well stay up. I stare at my hands and my body in the full body mirror standing to my right; I stare at every one of my imperfections. I sigh. Walking back into my bedroom I pick up my geo watch from the nightstand and put it on my left wrist. Next to it sat the glasses. I slide the thin glass shaped sweatband over my head. Powering it on all my vitals popped up in the top left corner. My heart was beating. I hated wearing it.

⠀⠀Walking over to my bay window I look out at the ocean. I smile. I hold up my left wrist and swipe the screen, it changes my view and i see the once clean ocean and beautiful sandy beach of Hawaii. My smile drops and I walk across the room to my glass sliding door, picking up my back pack and putting on my oxygen mask before stepping out into the early morning sunrise.

⠀⠀As I step out onto my deck a warning pops up: WARNING TOXIC AIR. WARNING TOXIC AIR. My heart drops ever so slightly, but don't worry, I'm rather used to it. Walking down the path I jump across the rocks, making my way to the beach. The beach that was once clean and filled with adults sun bathing and talking happily to their friends while their kids ran around playing in the sand was now empty and covered in trash and dead animals; the carcasses of the decaying deceased piles of flesh digging themselves into the wasted sand and filled the already intoxicated air with their musty, gross aromas.

⠀⠀In the distance I could see jets racing towards me. Oh no. Running inside as fast as I could, my heart is racing and my thoughts even faster. I slam and lock my door with a heavy sigh of relief that I had been able to reach my abode in time.

⠀⠀Throwing everything to the ground while another note popped up in front of me: AIR STABLE. I throw myself under my kitchen table. The sounds of jets flying over head. Loud crashing shook the earth and I could feel it groan in pain. They are trying to kill us all. Luckily I lived on a remote beach(rather I took shelter here after my house was bombed several weeks earlier.)

⠀⠀Why was I worried about these jets? World War 3 has been wrecking havoc on us for months now. Thousands were dying everyday from bombings and the now freed viruses that wrecked havoc on the world after being freed from the glaciers and other areas affected my global warming. These disease ridden things could not be stopped. Antibiotics were as of no use anymore. Having the slightest cough or cold could kill you nowadays.

⠀⠀After the earth stopped trembling in fear I stood slowly. Months. I've stayed alive this long I need to continue. I need to make a change. There has been too many errors. People have tried to come together to try to protest our issues, but it doesn't work. Other parts of the world uninvolved in the ongoing war between the U.S, North Korea, Japan, and Russia had actually solved other concerning issues.

⠀⠀Germany and Spain have come together to help clean up the oceans, and cities. While Other places like China had made new laws limiting the number of children a mother was allowed to birth and cut back on air pollution. The child law is criticized but many are now accepting it due to overcrowding in their cities. Greenland has been urging other countries to cut back on waste and encourage better education for children.

⠀⠀My one question to everyone is: why is this all happening? Simple. Because we are humans and everyone of us are selfish in our own ways.
