"I never thought of the day I would fall in love with your mother." I say looking down at my teenage daughters and son as I flip the mixed berries pancake.
"Dad we've heard the whole story from mom." says my older daughter, Daisy, biting her lip, she was still a little on edge about her mother.
"Yeah you guys met at school or something and you were trying to get laid every moment of the day." says my younger daughter, Rose, looking down at her lap.
"Excuse me missy but that's not true." I say raising an eyebrow at her. although she was only 16 she was the splitting image of her mother and had the same amount of sass as her too.
"Okay father." says my son, Heath, sarcastically, looking down at his phone in one hand and shoving a couple of mouthfuls of pancakes into his mouth. "do tell because soccer practice starts on 10 minutes and I have to pick up Chelsea."
"And who is Chelsea." I say raising an eyebrow. he had become quite a player like I used to be, but I always wondered who he was going to settle down with. Maybe that's what my mother always thought before I met Sunday.
"Uh" he says looking up at me a little
"Soccer captain for the girls and voted homecoming queen two years in a row." says my younger daughter like its the most obvious thing ever. "And only dates for long term relationships."
"Nice job." I say giving my son a pat on the back as I come around to the breakfast bar to give them more pancakes "She sounds like a keeper."
"Eh maybe." he says still tapping away on his phone.
Just at that moment I hear the front door.
"Hello?" I hear a high pitched call in the front hall
"We are in here." calls Rose.
"Why is she here?" mumbles Daisy.
"Be nice." I warn her
"I don't get why you are dating her." She angrily mutters standing up and putting, more like slamming her plate in the sink.
"Im not dating her" I say a little irritated "She's my manager."
"I would date her." I hear my son mutter before I shoot him a glare.
"Good morning fabulous people." Says the very perky blonde bounding into the kitchen.
"Good morning Lexi" I say as Daisy pushes her way out of the kitchen.
"Good morning dear." Lexi's says in a piercing squeal and kissing me on the cheek.
"Uh so what are you doing here?" I say wiping the excess strawberry sented lip gloss off my cheek.
"Well I was just in the neighborhood" She says pulling out a packet from her two thousand dollar purse " and I thought I would hand you back this fabulous piece of wrting from the editor."
"Oh great." I say taking it from her.
" So are we still on for lunch?" Lexi says sitting down where Daisy sat.
"Oh ya lunch." I say running my hand through my hair. "Uh I kind of made plans for the afternoon. Sorry."
"Oh baby." She pouts "Its okay I forgive you. But we can have dinner tonight at Balina's."
"Uh dad aren't you coming to my game?" Heath says shooting me a look.
"Oh ya." I nod "Sorry Lexi can we resheduale?"
"Aw okay then so tomorrow then." She says whipping out her phone and tapping away with her claw like nails.
"Uh okay then." I say standing up " I'm going to check on Daisy now. Kids get ready for school and Lexi you know the way out."
"But-" starts Lexi
"It's okay I'll call you later." I say speed walking out the kitchen. I couldn't stay in the same room as the devil who wears Prada.
I quickly walk up the stairs to Daisy's room and knock on the door.
"Daisy?"
No answer
"Daisy I know you are in there." I say opening the door. The white four poster queen sized bed and the matching white dresser stands in the room neatly with the turquoise rug and purple chair next to the open window leading to the roof.
I sigh and go over to the window and open it wider. I stick my head out of the window and see her laying on her back looking up at the sky with her hands tucked under her head.
"Daze?"
"Go away dad and go hang out with your slut of what you call a manager." She says bitterly "What is she like the manger of your condoms?"
I chuckle and shake my head "No Daisy, she's just my manger and my publicist and I would not go near her-"
"Her baby cannon? Her cockpit? Her Dragon's liar? Her choochie? Her-" She offers before I cut her off
"No, I was going to say I wouldnt go near her in that way." I say half chuckling half apualed that she would say that.
"Dad." I hear a voice behind me. I turn and see Rose and Heath in the doorway.
"Whats up guys?" I say pulling my head back into the room
"Well we just wanted to check on Daisy." Says Rose
"Im fine" Daisy calls "Dad can you come out here for a minute."
"Sure." I say opening th window wider and climbing out
"Daisy whats up?" I say sitting down next to her. She's scilent and I can tell she's holding back on something so I go on. "You know your mom used to do the same thing as you and hold everything inside when she had to say something important."
She remains silent still. I open my mouth to speak but she cuts me off
" I want to know about mom. how you guys met. Your side of the story."
"Didnt you say you didnt want to here it?" I ask looking at her.
"No I just said I've heard mom's side already" she replies quietly
"Hey I want to hear this too." says Rose climbing out the window followed by Heath
"Heath?" I say raising an eyebrow "You want to too?"
"Well Chelsa cancelled so I have time." he shrugs
I chuckle "So I'm the second choice?"
He flushes a little pink before mubleing "Actually I want to hear this story. Its about mom anyways"
"Okay." I nod "Settle down childeren"
"Okay dad please just tell us your story." Says Rose rolling her eyes "its now or never."
"alright then" I say leaning back and looking out into the distance.
