When they finally got to the airport.. it was a bit hectic finding where they needed to go, then once they got over that hurdle, they had to walk to the gate, and wait for the announcement that it was time to board the plane.

They sat down, and nervously chatted about this and that..

"I can't believe I'm here... I... never in my wildest dreams... Well, I did day dream.. but I never thought it would really happen."
"Well, believe it.. cause it's happening.."
"Ya wanna know something?"
"What's that?"
"Remember that morning, when you told me about this?"
"Yes..."
"Well, when I woke up that morning, I prayed.. I said, and I quote,"Lord, get me out of here.." Miss Peterson smiled.

"Well, it looks like God has answered your prayer." Just as she said those words, the announcement came.. it was time to go.

They rose at the same time, and hugged.. "oh Miss Peterson, I don't know how to thank you.. you've been a wonderful teacher.." tears spilled over her eye lids, and she quickly wiped them away.
"You can thank me by getting on that plane, and having a wonderful time in England." They both smiled, and hugged once more, as she slowly walked towards the plane, and ascended the steps.

Once inside, a friendly flight attendant greeted her.
"Hello, and welcome aboard, may I have your ticket please?" Amanda nervously handed it to her.
"Oh, I see you're in first class.. your seat is right over there.. enjoy your flight.."

She found her seat, and sat down, holding her duffle bag in her lap, as more and more people boarded the plane.

A short time later, the same flight attendant walked by.

"You know, you can store your bag in that compartment right there, right?"

Amanda looked up to where she pointed.

"Oh, I didn't know, I'm sorry.."
"No apologies necessary. This must be your first time on a plane."
"Yes it is.. I won a poetry contest."
"Oh really... Well, congratulations.."
"Thank you.."
"And don't you worry, we'll take good care of you.." she patted Amanda's shoulder as she spoke.. then excused herself to see to other passengers.

She sighed, and stood up, opened the compartment, and placed her duffle bag inside, then shut it, and sat back down.

Once the doors were closed, the announcement came over that it was time to fasten their seatbelts, as the plane started to move.

It was a tense several minutes, then the plane took off, and soon started climbing.

In no time, they were above the clouds, as Amanda soon discovered, looking out her small window.

A short time later, she was told she could take off her seatbelt, and she did so, just as the flight attendant walked over to her seat.

"How about a glass of champagne to celebrate.."
"Oh.. I don't drink... I tried it once, but it tasted nasty.. sorry.."
"No worries... Well, how bout this.... You're going to England.. how bout a nice cup of real British tea..."
"Oh, that sounds lovely.. yes, I'll take that.."
"Ok, coming right up.." she smiled, and walked away.

As the flight attendant walked away, Amanda started to assess her seat.. she found the little fold out table, unfastened it, and let it down.

Soon the flight attendant returned with her cup of tea, along with some cookies.

"Here ya go... By the way.. did you know, in England they call these biscuits?"
"Yes, I knew that.. I've been reading about England for a long time.. there's a lot of different things that is gonna be strange, like riding in a car... The steering wheel is on the right, not the left.."
"Yeah, it will take some getting used to, but you'll get the hang of things soon enough."
"Thank you for my tea, and the biscuits.." she smiled.
"You're welcome, and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask, ok?"
"Ok, thanks.."
"My pleasure sweety.."

She had to admit, she was having fun, and British tea was pretty good.. better than American tea..

Seven hours and thirty minutes later, came the announcement that it was time to put her seatbelt back on, as they were above London England.. and would soon land.

She took a breath, to steady her nerves, and closed her eyes. The plane lowered, and soon, they were on the ground.

The doors were opened, and people started their way out.

Amanda took the cue, and rose to get her duffle bag, then got out of her seat.

She passed the friendly flight attendant, and smiled.

"Thank you for your kindness.. I know God will bless you for it."
"Awe, why thank you, and you're so welcome..you have a great time in England, ok?"
"Ok.. bye.."
"Bye sweet heart.."

Slowly and carefully she descended the steps.. and looked around.

She walked inside the airport, and looked around. She saw where all the luggage was taken off the plane.. finding hers, she looked around again..

Her eyes landed on a man, holding a sign, that read,
  "Amanda Dawn Jacobs"

Walking over to him, she pointed at his sign..
  "Hey, that's me!"
"Oh, well ello luv, welcome to London!"
"Why thank you.."
"ere... Let me take your case.." Amanda handed it over to him, as he told her to follow him.

They came to a black taxi cab..

"I'll just put this in the boot.."
"The what?" She laughed.
"The boot luv.. you've never been to England, ave you luv?"
"Nope, first time.. and back home, we call that the trunk.."

He smiled, as he closed the boot, and opened the door for her.
"I really hope you enjoy your stay in London."
"Thank you, I believe I will."

They drove through the London traffic, and soon came to a hotel.
"We're here... I've been told this is your hotel."
"Oh my.. It's so big.." she looked out the window in amazement, as the cab driver got out, and opened her door.

Carrying her suitcase inside, he placed it down in front of the check in desk.

"These nice people will take excellent care of you luv, you have a great stay.."

Eventually, after she signed papers, and was given her key, she was led up to her room.

Once inside, she couldn't believe her eyes..

"How did they know my favorite colour is red?" She asked no one in particular..

The man smiled, as he set her suitcase down.
"Enjoy your stay miss Jacobs.."
"Thank you, I will.."

As he left the room, she plopped down on the bed, and looked about her room..

She had never seen anything like this...

"Oh, I love my bed..." She laid back, as jetlag soon took over, and fell asleep.

Two hours later she woke up.. her belly was growling, telling her it was time to eat.

Looking around, she found a card with a menu and a phone number..

Her first meal in England was fish & chips, and Pepsi...

Later on, she decided to order a cup of tea, and a blueberry scone. It was delicious..

So far, her first day in London was better than any of her dreams.. what lay in store, she had no idea...
