How You first met

You were at the library studying for a project. It was late, the clock had struck 8 p.m and the moon had swapped places with the sun.

There was so much that happened that night- the rain that came unannounced, the electricity that went out for the first time in a while and him.

You were sitting on the floor, Geography Section, flipping through the pages, ready to wrap up your studying when the lights went out followed by lightning then rain.

You were startled by the whole scene especially the eerie atmosphere that made you rise to your feet, ready to hit anything that came your way.

You could hear the librarian announcing to keep calm as she flickered her flashlight through the shelves but you were at the far end of the room and the library being huge, you knew you had to walk a long way to get to the opening.

You took a breath, carried your backpack, switched on the flashlight of your phone and started taking slow steady steps. There was, of course, a rolled up magazine in your other hand for safety measures.

You made it out of the Geography Section, there were still tons of shelves to pass through. You started to walk again when, you heard a noise from your left and the sound of books falling to the floor. You walked faster, heavily breathing when all of a sudden you tripped on something and went crashing down to the floor.

"Holy sheep "
You heard someone from behind you say.

You squealed at the sound of the unknown person blindly searching for the magazine you were using as a weapon, your phone had also fell under a book shelf exterminating the only source of light.

"Are you okay?" he said.

It was pitch black and that made things scarier.

"Don't come any closer," you addressed to whoever the person was.

You heard him snigger.

Quickly pulling yourself up, you stretched out your arms aiming the magazine randomly.

"I swear I'll hit you," you warned

"That's scary," he joked in a sarcastic tone.
You took a step back trying to find the right moment to run.

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you," his voice became warmer, "Let's make things easier and find our way out of here together," he said.

You took a wider step back backwards,
"I don't trust you, plus I like to work alone."

You didn't mean to sound rude because you didn't know the person and he could turn out to be someone nice but at the same time a pervert too, it was impossible to judge just by his voice, which sounded quite safe, but you were just not sure.

You tried to look for your phone but the darkness made the sense of sight impossible.

"You should trust me, I've got reasons for you to," he said.

"And the what's that?" you asked surprisingly stopping yourself to hear him out.

"I found your phone, and I know the library better since I'm regular here and I can easily get us through."

His words actually made you speechless with no other choice left.
You agreed but he had to maintain a certain distance from you, he agreed to that and returned your phone.

Worst case scenario, your phone couldn't be switched on as it broke when you dropped it earlier and he annoyingly forgot to bring his phone so that left you both with no choice but to walk in darkness.

The sound of the rumbling thunder made you jump at certain moments making him laugh.

"We're almost there," he assured as he took swift turns boldly like he could see through the dark.
