The moon was a wraith, shining brightly in the lonely sky, still accompanied by millions and millions of stars. Looking up, he could see how the moon was bright. Was it even possible that something so beautiful, even after being surrounded by millions of heavenly bodies - stars, could be so lonely?
Yes, it was possible for something so beautiful to be lonely even after being accompanied by those celestial bodies. At least that's what he felt at the moment. Although he never associated himself with something as beautiful as the moon itself, he still felt alone even after being surrounded by hundreds of people daily. It was almost as if he were a shell of a person, feeling no emotion and empty inside out.
"Sire," called out a voice breaking Namjoon, King Namjoon, out of his train of thoughts. Taking his eyes off of the beauty also known as the moon, Namjoon met the eyes of Hoseok, his right-hand man.
Namjoon motioned for Hoseok to enter and soon he found himself face to face with the man. Despite being Namjoon's right-hand man, Hoseok was also one of his best friends, someone Namjoon could share his griefs and sorrows with.
"You wished to see me, your majesty?" Hoseok inquired whilst straightening his back.
"Ah yes, come have a seat, my friend." Namjoon said, moving away from the window and towards the table resting on one side of the room, covered with a red cloth that held neat golden embroidery. Namjoon sat on one side and motioned for Hoseok to sit on the other.
"Your Majesty," Hoseok called out again, this time sitting in front of his king. "Was there a reason you demanded my presence?"
"Do I need to have an explanation to see my good friend?"
"Of course not, my lord." Hoseok replied while pouring out wine in two wine glasses from an imported valuable bottle.
"Thought about having a drink and perhaps exchange a few words," Namjoon aswered whilst picking up his glass and peering out of the window. The moon had now found home behind a thick layer of clouds, the atmosphere was depressed all of a sudden, threatening to break down into tears of despair. It was as if the weather had sympathized with Namjoon, reflecting deep onto his emotions. His thoughts were soon interrupted by a roar of thunder.
Allowing the sweet taste of the red wine to settle on his tongue, Namjoon closed his eyes and for a second let himself be one with the silence. He just wanted to fade into the dead of the night. Opening his eyes, he stared up ahead at Hoseok, who sat straight in front of him, sipping on his wine, staring at him, waiting for the king to continue.
"The weather has been lovely today, up until this hour," Hoseok began after making sure that Namjoon will not be talking on his own anytime soon.
"Indeed it has been lovely. Although the rain itself has brought destruction but it is still quite captivating," The king said. His eyes holding that dreamy gaze with stars shining in them. It was as if those eyes were their own galaxy.
"Captivating? Why would you describe it so, your highness? It has brought nothing but fear and destruction." With a look of pure confusion painted on his face, Hoseok once again raised his glass to his lips and let the sweet wine run down his throat.
"Yes it has, but one can not deny the beauty of it either, the way the sky lights up with a bolt, and with a roar, the way the sky cries. Can you really deny such beauty?" Unknowingly, a chuckle escaped Hoseok's lips at Namjoon's answer, maybe the way of interpreting the rain was funny or maybe the idea of something so destructive being so beautiful was funny.
Hearing Hoseok laugh, Namjoon let himself smile for the short while. Just relishing in the sound of Hoseok's laugh mixed with the rain. Both of them then carried on with their talk, not really minding the rain but rather enjoying it this time.
