The golden sun rays of mid October shined down on Nikko’s chestnut brown wavy hair, as she sat on the bench at her bus stop waiting to be picked up to continue her way to her volunteer service at the orphanage.

Her scarf blew over her shoulder and quickly away from her as the stranger at the other end of the bench caught the end of the hunter green cotton fabric between his fingers.

“Thanks! I just bought this a couple of weeks ago!” she exclaimed, thankful that she wouldn’t have to chase down her new favorite scarf down Main street at risk of missing her bus.

“You’re very welcome! Hunter, and your name is?” he responded, holding out his hand and returning the scarf, a bright gleam in his hazel eyes.

“I’m Nikko” she smiled, shaking his hand.

“Well Nikko, it’s my pleasure to help such a beautiful woman” said Hunter.

She blushed, quickly covering it so he wouldn’t notice. Looking down at her red oxfords booties, she replied with a quick “Well, thanks again”.

“In an effort to not be too forward, would you be interested in grabbing lunch sometime?”

Nikko looked up and couldn’t help noticing his genuine tone, his charming dimpled smile. His short brown hair looked as though he’d just gotten a haircut. His beard perfectly groomed, in the scruffy way that a man looked his sexiest. She also couldn’t help but notice that his hunter green boots matched perfectly with her scarf and that he’d introduced himself as Hunter. Everything about this situation seemed surreal to Nikko.

“I think that could be arranged” Nikko replied uncertainly and at the same time playfully.

“Well I look forward to it Nikko, how about Thai?” he responded with a handsome smirk, it seemed, meant just for her.

She wondered if he knew how charming he was. Where had he even come from? Life had been working to her favor today.

“Thai is perfect, I know just the place!”

As the bus approached they both climbed the steps to board, Hunter following Nikko. He noticed her brown eyes full of joy and her bright, heartening smile. She was like something out of his favorite song. The way she stood so unsure, but so sturdy. She seemed to have a sort of aura, as though she was the brightest light anyone could ever see as soon as she walked into a room. She was beautiful, and he’d been lucky enough to catch the scarf blowing away from her.

They conversed and parted ways after exchanging numbers. There was magic in the works, and if not magic, than fate was surely bringing two deserving souls together.
