A reflective essay by LuliWrites

- What did you think of your partner's work?

I thought the story was very well-written and I could tell that a lot of thought and care went into every word in each chapter. HandofRel portrays emotions in a seemingly effortless way that I truly admire and would love to be able to do myself.

The protagonist was very silly and there were times when I felt bad for her because of how her parents treated her imagination. I appreciated that HandofRel took the time to explain how the protagonist felt about her parents' sentiments but still stayed true to what she really wanted.

The concept is very original and it's definitely something that I think of myself reading to children if I ever have any. It's a very heartwarming and refreshing read!

- What sets it apart from what you usually read?

Most of the stories I read are targeted towards an older audience (18-24), so this was definitely something outside of my usual reading lists. I don't go out of my way to read stories by younger protagonists because I feel like I've lost some of the innocence that I had as I grew older and that it would be difficult to relate to them. However, this story has proven that everything deserves an equal chance because I really enjoyed the originality of the plot and its characters.

I do read adventure stories from time to time but never the type that switches between reality and fantasy. It was oddly satisfying to see the shift between the two worlds and I ended up getting a little antsy myself whenever the protagonist's parents interrupted important moments during her adventures.

The author does a great job of incorporating emotion into dialogue, something that I often struggle with. Even though it is done from third person POV (Rel), it still maintains Rel's vocabulary and that's what makes it so interesting.

The different places that are described in the story are authentic, I've never seen anyone else with names such as these and there's a reason behind them all. Some are very entertaining and others make me wish that the protagonist wasn't getting interrupted so that the story could continue.

There were a couple of formatting errors and possibly a mix-up with an expression, but it didn't impact my ability to understand and enjoy the story. My only suggestion would be that there would be more frequent updates because anyone that tries the story would be impatiently waiting for more.
