'It's... cold...'

'But... why?...'

I slowly open my eyes to see the moon directly above me shining down and lighting up the small clearing that I lay flat in. I slowly move my eyes around, not moving my head, as I see tall dark trees all around me. I sit up and shiver as the snow gets separated from my back. I look around at the forest surrounding me and wonder how i got here.

'Am I lost?'

I look up at the moon once more and then at the stars surrounding it.

'Weird, there aren't any constellations I recognize... I must be lost in Dark Thicket or somewhere at least remotely close to home, right?'

I sit in the snow wondering where i could be, and with a lot of force, and trying to move my frozen legs, I manage to stand and slowly walk over to one of the tall trees closest to me, and climb it.

'If I want to get home, I need to find help first, and there has to be someone in this forest right?'

As the branches start to thin I stop climbing and look out over the forest, it's beautiful and nothing like Dark Thicket at all. I cannot believe how gorgeous this forest is, it's so different to any kind of woods I've seen that's for sure.

After a while of admiring the forest i see smoke rising in the distance, and wonder how i didn't see it before. I take a mental note of where the smoke is coming from, since the lack of constellation are no use to me, and climb down from the tree to begin the long walk towards the smoke.

~~~~~
About an hour passes as I trudge through the snow, socks getting wet from the snow covering my shoes every step I take. I'm surprised that i have managed to last this long in the cold, after all elves can only last a certain amount of time outside in the winter snow before they start to feel it getting under their skin.
As I stomp through the snow I notice that I have just started to get cold, this is bad. I don't know how long I can stay out in this snow before I could get badly injured...
I continued the long journey to find the source of the smoke and I could see the light in the distance. I was getting closer and closer every step I took.
As a child I was told never to stay out in the snow for too long, and seek shelter as soon as we feel the cold nipping at our skin. Now, I understand why it's bad to stay out in the snow...
Everything started hurting, badly... My breathing was getting irregular and the harsh winter air burned my lungs as I breathed in. My vision was getting blurry and my eyelids were heavy. My steps were heavy and took so much energy out of me, it was like I was lifting a ton of bricks from my feet, I could hardly get my feet off the ground.
My head was spinning like crazy, and I felt like I was going to pass out at any moment... Then at that moment, like some miracle, there it was... A house... Shelter... Safety...
I took no time walking around the side of the house, and with little effort, found the door. Slowly and painfully walking up to the doorstep, all I could hear was the sound of my heartbeat and the white noise that surrounded my entire being.
My eyes started going in and out of focus...
My breathing was shaken and coarse...
My legs were giving up and shutting down...
My eyes then closed...
I felt the air rush past me and all I heard was a thump...
Then darkness...
~~~Damien's POV~~~

"Man, the snow really did hit hard, I hope no one was caught in the blizzard earlier today." My sister Jackson said as I sat at the table sipping my coffee.
"Yea, me too..."
Then we both heard a thud that came from our doorstep. In shock we both stood up and walked towards the door. "Uhmm I... I don't think that was a deer..." She said in a concerned tone. "Uhh yeah... that's definitely not a deer..." I said also very concerned as I opened the door. We both gasp in shock when we see the source of the thud. "What in the?! Who?! W-What?!" Jacky said in complete shock.

"A girl?..."

((Quick AN!!))
Hey everyone thank you so much for reading the first chapter of my book!
I'm so excited that I finally finished it cause it took a long time for me to actually write it (since I kept adding to the later story rather then what was happening in the story now). But I really hope you enjoyed reading!!

Oh and yes Damien has a sister called Jackson. I know it's technically supposed to be a boys name but I don't really care.
SCREW STEREOTYPES!

That's all for now!~
Baii Friends (or should I say crazies😏)
