Hank grumbled as he arrived at the precinct, a coffee in one hand and a burger in the other. It may have been 9am but it was never too early to have a burger, at least not to Hank. He got to his desk where his partner, Connor, was frowning in disapproval at the choice of breakfast.
"That really isn't healthy for you..." Conner huffed, crossing his arms. Hank rolled his eyes and ignored the comment, sitting down at his desk, munching on the burger just to rub it in, annoying Connor slightly.
"Says the one who drinks fifteen energy drinks in a day," Hank retorted, pointing to the empty cans on Connor's desk.
"Touche," Connor sighed and walked back to his own desk, moving some of the empty cans into the trash can. Connor had been drinking so many energy drinks due to this ongoing clump of cases, all by the same killer but they couldn't find any evidence of who was committing these crimes.
He glanced up at the clock, and then over to Detective Reed's desk, a frown creeping onto his face.
"Shouldn't Gavin be here by now?" Connor asked, eyebrows furrowed slightly. Hank shrugged, not really caring about the Detective's whereabouts.
"Maybe he overslept, he does sometimes," Hank mumbled, logging onto the terminal in front of him. As if on cue, Tina Chen (Gavin's best friend since college and co-worker) rushed into the precinct and straight up to Captain Fowler's office, looking rather panicked. Hank and Connor looked towards the office before looking at each other, both equally as confused. A few minutes later, Fowler emerged and called for everyone to gather in the board room for a quick meeting. Tina came out afterwords, rubbing her eyes, it was clear she'd been crying.
Everyone gathered in one of the larger board rooms, everyone was wondering what was going on.
"So..." Fowler began, clearing his throat, "Last night, it seems like one of our Detectives was assaulted and kidnapped. Tina here informed me that when Gavin didn't show up at the time he was supposed to this morning, she drove down to his apartment to check on him. Upon arrival she found his apartment to be completely trashed, looking like there was a struggle. Not only that, but she found traces of blood too. This is a very important situation and I want you all to be trying to locate Detective Reed and get him back safely. I know a lot of you dislike him, but he's one of the best detectives in he precinct. Now get to work!" Everyone hurried out of the room to get to their desks and a group of forensics lead by Tina headed back out to Gavin's apartment to gather clues.
"Christ... you were right to be concerned about Gavin's lateness, Con," Hank mumbled. Connor glanced over and couldn't really read what expression he had.
"Yea... we'll find him though, it shouldn't be too hard, right?" Connor sounded slightly unsure.
"Right. Not too hard at all..."
Oh how wrong they were.
