I technically did not break my promise yesterday. I did write a 500 word summary of The Rising Phoenix in order to enter it into the Watty's.

"Heeeyyyy, Rigon is it?" The man sighed and slowly turned to face them hands in the air. He had been running from these dwarfs for over a week now, but it looked like they had finally caught on. He looked at the shop keeper and sighed. He really didn't wish to do this in the nice lady's shoe emporium. And yet...
"Pleasant day we are having Mr... Mr... hey do I know you from somewhere?" The head Dwarf smiled chillingly and stepped forward crossbow aimed at Rigon's heart.
"I would think you would remember that day Rigon. After all, you stole a rather valuable gem from us. I am sure our god Pelor would be thrilled if we shone a light on your villainous deeds. Also I, Greyhawk," he stepped forward until the crossbow arrow was just lightly touching Rigon's leather armor. "would be honored among the gods for ending your life."
What happened next confused many of the dwarfs for the rest of their lives. One minute it had seemed they were going to win. The next... well pandemonium. However to Rigon, Balenguard (one of the newbies of the clan), and Greyhawk an epic battle immediately broke out. In rapid succession, Rigon slid a hidden dagger into his hand, stabbed Grewhawk and hid. Balenguard found Rigon hidden behind the display counter and broke the glass in an attempt to hit his adversary. Greyhawk immediately drank a healing potion and ran towards Balenguard and saw Rigon...
It is okay if you do not understand this dear reader, most of the dwarves didn't either.
Once again spotted Rigon stood up and smiled, polished lady's boot in hand.
"How about we deal with this outside eh? Wouldn't want to let our dear shop keeper here lose any more profits in repair." Greyhawk laughed in surprise.
"I didn't think you cared about anyone or anything Rigon. Most scum-of-the-earth's don't."
"Ah yes well you see, I'm not most scum." At that, he threw the boot. Once again in hindsight, the dwarfs regretted this action. It was a trick older than even time itself. They watched as the boot sailed passed them. They turned back to say 'you missed' but by then it was too late. Rigon was gone once more. They searched throughout the shop but could not find their man.

Outside, hidden behind hay barrels for feeding the horses Rigon waited with bated breath. After it became apparent they were not going to look any further Rigon snuck away chuckling to himself. Those foolish dwarves. He had been avoiding them for over a year now all because of a little misunderstanding. They had told him it was worth untold treasure. He had thought that meant it was extremely valuable. How was he to know it was the dwarf clan's way of communicating with their god? It ended up not even being worth that much, just a hundred gold. Enough for a name change, and some food for a week. One of his most embarrassing steals. Maybe even worse than the time he had to pretend to be a traveling knife salesman. ugh! That one was a nightmare.
The truth was, Rigon thought to himself, he couldn't have stayed with them long anyway. They would have figured out who he was sooner or later. If they did that...well he would rather be running from a venegful dwarf clan than being turned over to... them. He had to keep running. Maybe it was time to go south for a bit. Forget about his original choice and his most current identity. Just get away for a bit. He hadn't been tried out the name Michael before...
That was when he noticed his pack started smoking. Quickly pulling it off his back he avoided getting anywhere near it. After the smoke died down he hesitantly looked in his pack. The only thing remaining uncharred was THE note. He grimaced. The note. It had called him to head north, putting him in this mess, to begin with. He didn't want anything to do with it. But it wouldn't leave him alone. He thought back to when he had received that note. All the others who had gotten one. He had left redemption behind. He had left THEM behind. Those people who were still trying to do what was right without any idea of what was going on. The people who were kinder and better than he had ever been. And there was that one person to think about...
Rigon snapped to a decision. He changed his appearance back to his newest disguise and began the journey north once more. Steven Lamar decided to return to the group and save the imagined expanse. Whatever that was.
