Have you ever had that feeling of euphoria, like complete and utter happiness where you just never want to stop what you're doing because in that moment it just feels so exciting?! The wind in my hair, the roar of the engine, the feeling of the wind against my hand it just felt amazing. The yellow lines of the road went by and looked like a blur. The view of the ocean, and the feeling to go faster, the need to go faster. I pushed down on the accelerator a couple inches and my car launched forward. The adrenaline in me couldn't stay away, and it placed a smile on my face. Lowering my window even lower, I felt the air like a blast of refreshens. The wind blowing my curly hair in every direction, my hand outside the window feeling the air. I felt excited, drying the beads of sweat off of my forehead from the last volleyball practice of the school year. Free atlas!
The urge of pushing the acceleration pedal even further down tugged on me, begging me to take it further down. And just as I was about to; red and blue lights flashed on my mirrors. As much as I hated to I lifted my foot off of the gas pedal I did. Looking at the road I found a place to pull over, and as if instinct I started coming up with a half assed lies of why I was going so fast on the highway. Just as the cop was approaching my window I had two very well thought of, well sort thought out story. Opening my mouth to look at the cop I saw his face, and all my excuses were gone. I took a big sigh and rolled my head down to look at my lap.
"Samantha Layhe, we meet once again" he said
"umm hi officer"
"What's this? like your fourth time??" He asked me
"Is it ha?" Crap. What were the odds of the same officer pulling me over four times...? "mm my dad says hi"
He laughed. "Well your dad is a great cop, but his name won't get you out of this this time Samantha, you were going 20 miles over the speed limit" he tells me crossing his arms over his chest.
"Really? that's a lot can you umm check again?" I shyly asked trying to get myself out of this.
"No. It was a lot and you were clearly over 20 miles, come on I need your license".
He raised his eyebrow and I unwanting to gave him my license. ugh my dad is going to kill me.
As I walked into my house I threw my bag under the entryway, still pretty pissed that I got yet again another stupid speeding ticket. Look don't judge me I'm a great driver, I just get excited.
"Where is everyone?" I yelled out. As if on cue I followed the sound of bombing laughter into the kitchen. A blender was going off in the middle of the kitchen island, surrounded by soy sauce, fish, hot sauce, and milk. Andrew looked up and caught my eye.
"Sam! ouu you came just in time!" Andrew was my older brother one of three. He's 19 and the middle child of the boys, we were all pretty close.
Looking at the mess on the table I could smell the misfortune that was about to occur. "oh no."
"oh yes". Ethan my oldest brother who was 20 said. Ethan smirked at me and put his arm around my small shoulder and pulled me up on the counter. "Grab another glass Drew".
A fifth glass was added to the other four that were already on the counter. "on the count of three we chug!" Drew said, pouring some of the soupy concoction of misfortune from the blender in the cups that were on the counter.
"remind me why were doing this!?". I asked, looking at the four boys around the island. Three of them were my brothers- Andrew, or drew- Ethan- Landon- and the other might as well have been- Noah. Noah, has been our next door neighbor for as long as I could remember, for the past thirteen years he's been around, always.
