In the small town of Woodberry, there is a spirit alive throughout. A being in the town that makes it seem more alive. And within that, there is tradition and a fundamental way of living.
Since the beginnings of [Woodberry], there had been a Keeper of the Hearts. It started with John Rutherford as the Keeper, and descended all the way down to the present keeper—Michael Rutherford. For decades, their job has been to protect and hand over the Soulaces. Soulaces are given out to a child at birth, and activated at age 18. Each Soulace is different and is given its own unique shape and meaning. But, the Soulaces are always shaped as a half of its figure. Whether it be half of a heart or half of a sun. The other half belongs to a person's true soulmate. The warmer the Soulace gets, indicates the closer you get to the soulmates.
It's been this way in Woodberry for as long as time. When a person's Soulace is activated, it's a new opening into the world. A reassurance from any heartbreak and despair. Those who are meant for one another, are drawn together by the fate of the world, and will continue to be that way. A soulmate is someone to whom a person feels profoundly connected to, as though the communicating that takes place between them were not the product of intentional efforts, but rather a divine grace.—————————————————
