We walk up to the front door when I see my dad at the top of the stairs.
"Hey honey while you're at the store can you also buy some paper for the printer. We ran out yesterday."
"Ok dad. See you when I get back. Bye!"
"Bye sweet heart and come back soon it's getting dark."
I then walked out of the door with Travis and locked it behind me. I started to walk down the road when Travis asks,
"Why are you being so kind to me?"
"Huh?"
"It's just, I've seen many humans pass by and swim in the lake but, you're the first one that ever noticed me. Why didn't you run away?"
"Why would I have run away? You're still a person just with a little something extra that make you more special."
"Special? I'm not special. If anything I'm definitely not special."
"Well you're special to me. Now come on we need to get to the store before it gets dark."
He when I said those words he smiled at me and then started walking.
"Alright let's go."
We continued walking for 20 minutes when we finally reached the store. We went in and bought everything we needed to get for my parents. I asked Travis to wait by the front while I went to get something else. I then walked over to the candy idle and bought three bags of different types of candy. I then bought it and went back to the front.
"What is it that you bought?"
"That's a secret for only me to know."
"Oh ok. We should probably head back. It's getting really dark."
"Yeah my parents are probably sleeping by now so they think we'll be back soon. They'll be worried if they don't hear the door open in about an hour."
"Come on let's get going."
We started heading out of the store when we were stopped by the two men who I had met earlier. By instinct I grabbed Travis by the hand and didn't let go. He looked at me for a second before looking back at them.
"Oh well if it isn't that pretty girl we saw earlier."
"Yeah it is. Who's your friend little lady? We didn't see him with you earlier."
"Um excuse me but I'm on my way home so I would appreciate it if you would get out of my way. Thank you very much."
I then started to walk out of the store through the two men pulling Travis along with me. I kept walking till we were out of sight from those two men. When we were far enough from them Travis stopped me and asked,
"Hey are you ok? You look really worried."
"Did you not recognize them? They were the two who were after you earlier. They must have followed us. There's no way that was a coincidence. We need to get home as soon as possible come on."
I then started walking again but I was stopped again by someone pulling on my hands.
"Come on I told you that we need to get home. It's not sa—"
I turned around to see the taller man holding me by the hands.
"Well well well. Seems I caught something real nice. Wouldn't you say Zane?"
"Yeah but I think we caught something even greater in the process. He tried to hit you from behind while you grabbed this pretty thing. I knocked him out easily."
I looked at the ground to see Travis lying there knocked out.
He was going to help me. He could be hurt I need to get him away from these guys but how? I can barley move with him keeping my arms behind me.
He then put a rag up to my mouth and covered my nose. I tried to break away from it he held it there strong. In a few seconds I was knocked out.
I woke up later in a dark room a locked door that looked covered with rust and sharp points on one side and three metal walls on the the other 3. There was a small window on one of them which provided a little light but not enough to see the full room. I stood up and walked over to the door when i suddenly heard movement. I turn around quickly to see that there was something in the corner of the room on the other side of where I was. I walked to it very slowly. Then all of a sudden it moved again. I jumped and walked into the door. It made a loud bang and I fell to the ground from the pain of the metal scraping my right leg and left arm.
"Ow! Crap that hurts so bad!" I whispered. I tried to get slowly but fell down again from the pain. I slowly made my way to the figure now by moving On the ground. When I was close enough to it I could tell that it was a human. So I went faster believing that they might be a good person. But the closer I got the more familiar they looked. Then I finally realized that it was Travis. I went as fast as I could to get to him.
"Travis? Travis are you ok?"
"Huh? Shelby is that you?"
"Yes it's me are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine I just can't see. They chained me to the wall. Where are we?"
" I don't know they knocked me out and I woke up in here. You scared me when you moved."
"Oh sorry I thought it was just those guys again I woke up a bit ago and it was pitch black and then I pasted out again. Wait are you bleeding?"
"Huh? Oh I, uh, got cut my the door. It cut my leg and my arm on the door when you moved. It scared me that badly. But don't worry I'm ok."
"You don't sound ok. How bad are the cuts?"
"Not that bad I'll live. It's not that deep I don't think but I does hurt really bad to stand."
"Shelby that's not good. Show me your wounds."
"Ok."
I showed him the cut on my arm and leg and he looked at for a bit before he ripped of a part of a jacket he had on to wrap both my arm and leg.
"There you go. I don't know how I ended up with this jacket but whatever. It will keep you from bleeding out which is all that matters. Now you need to sleep so rest."
"Thank you Travis."
"Your welcome Shelby. And don't worry if they come back I will protect you."
I then quickly passed out from the pain.
