"Hi," Kyungsoo greeted dryly. His eyes didn't leave the statue."Only hi?" The statue didn't have eyebrows. I should have brought the statue an eyebrow pencil as a gift so that it would act maniacally to us. If it had had, then I guess it was arching its eyebrows, expressing its discontent towards Kyungsoo's rude greeting.
"Missy Delphi," I told the Oracle. "Let's get to the main point. We are going to.."
"Save Junmyeon," the Oracle cut me off. "I know this day would come, but I didn't expect that only two would go. Where are the other kids?"
"Sleeping," Kyungsoo, again, answered in a dull tone.
"Not that literal. Why aren't they coming with you two?" the Oracle hissed.
"For safety reason. They stayed here to protect the camp."
"Safety." The Oracle suddenly laughed hysterically, repeating "safety" multiple times. "A perilous journey."
Kyungsoo and I exchanged a look of confusion, being desperate to know the meaning behind this laugh. Suddenly, the statue stopped laughing, staying motionless. Its face went blank. Only the red glow radiated from its body. The Oracle of Delphi was about to issue the prophecy. Its voice roared raspily .
"The first clue shall be found among the fireflies.
In the straw house, the rarest powers, two will find
May the son of the unfortunate god, with his last breath, destroy the snow
Next stop, in an island, eight will discover a metal boat
Not only water, but the earth will also join
War or peace, which one will prevail underneath the soil?"
Immediately after it finished informing us the prophecy, the statue fell backward. The room looked so steamy right now.
I approached the fallen statue to get a piece of paper that inscribed the prophecy. The Oracle of Delphi didn't have this feature before; it only issued the prophecy orally. Demigods kept forgetting the prophecies about their quests. To ensure the correct guidance for the journeys, Junmyeon had negotiated with the Oracle of Delphi. Finally, they came to a solution that Delphi would work with Iris, the goddess of Rainbow, while the Delphi was issuing the prophecies. We had a thing called "Iris Message," meaning that our message, in the forms of either video or written letters, would be delivered to the recipents through rainbow. Mobile phone's radition attracted monsters; therefore, demigods were forbidden to use phones. No Galaxy or Iphone whatsoever.
I still preferred Iphone though. Jongdae and Chanyeol seemed to favour Galaxy, which I never got it. Probably they felt an urge to promote our homeland's economy.
The staffs working goddess would receive the prophecy, then recorded it in a small piece of paper. They would then create rainbows to send it to the Oracle of Delphi. That was why we could see a fading rainbow through the window pane right now.
I folded the paper, then put it in my wallet.
"Let's go," I said.
The prophecy mentioned snow – my ability. The unfortunate god, could it be my mother, Khione? After hearing that line, I could feel that the shiver running wildly down my spine. Khione, my mother, was "a nymph," depicted by almost all Greek mythology books, rather than a respected god. She had been rarely portrayed in Greek mythology, which led to a fact that not everyone had respected her. Not until she had been protected by the power of Poseidon and Apollo was she recognized. This was also the reason why Junmyeon, Baekhyun, and Yixing were very protective towards me whenever I claimed my quests, although I was their hyung.
