Two days later Goten stared at himself in the mirror. Today was the day he was going to ask Bulla to marry him. He was a ball of nerves. He knew she could sense how high his Ki level was and he was trying to calm down to lower it so she wouldn't ask questions. If he couldn't, he'd blame it on being tired from all the training he's done lately.
"Goten are you ready?" Bulla called upstairs.
"Yeah, I'm coming honey!" He yelled back down. He pocketed the ring and hid it under his shirt.
"Are you ok?" She asked him softly.
"Yeah. Tired from all the training I've been doing lately."
"You should cool down on it a bit then. I don't want you to hurt yourself though."
"I should be fine. My body isn't exactly use to all this."
"That's why you should calm down on it a bit."
He smiled. "I'll try."
She smiled back. "That's all I can ask for."
He kissed her softly. This is exactly why he knows he wants to marry her. She's always worried about him and asking him to keep himself healthy.
"Ready?"
She nodded. "I'm ready to go but not ready to see how much of a big deal mom has made this into." She said with a giggle.
That was another reason. Her laugh. He could hear it all day long, on replay, because it made his soul soar in the sky. Her eyes light up like the sun when she laughs.
He helped her into the car and drove over to Capsule Corp. They got out and Bulla groaned. Balloons lined the walkway to the backyard where they made an archway for people to cross through. Goten laughed. "Well she does always go all out for birthdays."
"I swear mine is always worse. 'Bulla you're my baby girl! I just want your birthdays to be special!'"
He laughed too. "Oh I know. You're the youngest plus you're a girl. You're 'doomed' to amazing birthdays!"
She pushed his shoulder lightly and smirked. "Oh fine! I know it's true."
They walked into the backyard where Bulla gasped. Red flowers and garland were delicately wrapped around the trees and gazebo. "Oh but this is so beautiful! Mom really outdid herself this time!"
Goten smiled and looked to Vegeta, who was walking their way. If she knew he had helped it would mean so much more to her.
"Well actually I did most of this, including picking it out."
"REALLY!? Oh daddy it's beautiful!" She hugged him and Vegeta winked at Goten. He really wanted to set the mood for this.
Goten grinned and mouthed 'Thank you Vegeta.'
He took a deep breath. He would wait until after dinner before he would ask. His hands were shaking so bad.
Right after they ate Vegeta called Goten over. "Are you ready?"
He nodded. "I think so."
"Okay. Everyone's mingling around again. Just walked up behind Bulla."
Goten nodded again and took a deep breath. "Okay."
Goten shakily walked up behind Bulla and got down on one knee. Everyone froze and gasped.
Bulla turned around and her hands flew up to her mouth. She truly had no idea. Goten's Ki was through the roof. This was why.
"B-Bulla I have spent my entire life around you. Every day. I made sure you were safe and happy no matter what. From helping you step over puddles so you wouldn't get your pretty shoes wet to skinned knees and to deflecting any danger, no matter how small. I will never forget the day I realized how beautiful you were. I was here, sparring with Trunks and you walked outside to read under the trees. Trunks told you to scoot over because you were too close to us and he didn't want you hurt. Well you being you, stuck your tongue out at him and giggled then went back to your book. I stopped and it hit me across the face. 'Bulla is the most beautiful girl I have met.' You already know why I asked you if you wanted me to tutor you. I got to spend more time around you, more than I already was. No one to hover around us. Every day that I wake up to your beautiful face I sit for a minute and wonder how I got so lucky. I love you." Goten took a deep breath. "Bulla, Will you marry me?"
