I am Anaiya. I'm 13 years old. My birthday is October 12th, 2005. I was born and raised in North Carolina. This is my story .

March 16th, 2012 -
Anaiya's Father POV :

"Anaiya!" I yelled my daughters name for her to come downstairs. I heard her little feet plop off her bed and listened to them run down the stairs. She came around the side of the couch and stood in front of my face. "Yes daddy." she asked with a slight smile on her face. "Want to play a game of Uno?" I asked her. "Umm I'd rather have ICE CREAM!" she screamed to the top of her lungs. "Anything for my little girl, I'll be waiting in the car." I said while giving her a big hug. She ran upstairs to get ready. Minutes later I see her come outside the door skipping to the car with a smile on her face. She's so adorable and I'm so grateful this is what God blessed me with. She hopped in the backseat and I started the engine. "Daddy play Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus." she asked . I turned it on and it started playing.

I hopped off the plane at LAX
With a dream and my cardigan
Welcome to the land of fame excess,
Whoa, am I gonna fit in?
Jumped in the cab,
Here I am for the first time
Look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign
This is all so crazy
Everybody seems so famous

"Daddy look at me dance." She screamed. I turned around to look at her dance. She clapped her hands and rolled her arms.

Just as I took my eyes off the rode and looked at Anaiya to watch her dance the car in front of us swerved into the right lane. As I looked back onto the road, I searched for the dark blue car, but it was already ahead of two cars in the right lane. My vision turned back to the road in front of me. Just as I did so, my stomach clenched and I held in my breath as I saw a stopped vehicle waiting to turn left about 30 feet in front of me. Thoughts began flooding into my mind on how to maneuver around this vehicle. I heard Anaiya start to scream. As I looked to my right for an escape route, another car was right beside me, blocking the getaway. I abruptly pressed on the brakes and all I heard were the tires screeching, trying to grasp onto the slippery road to stop themselves. Time seemed to slow down and it was too late. I was thrown from my car as it left the road.

An hour later....

Anaiya POV :

I'm in the hospital waiting room. My dad and I had just gotten into an accident. He was severely injured while I walked away without any bruises. He was wearing his seatbelt but the airbag didn't deploy which caused his head to slam into the hard plastic of the steering wheel while the engine tried to shake hands with the trunk. X-rays were taken of his neck, back and left arm and shoulder, what they revealed was not told to him, except that he was told he had several broken bones. My mom ran up to one of the doctors asking them was my dad okay. The world around me seemed to slowdown. I felt as if it was coming to an end. I watched as my mom talked to one of the doctors. Tears began to run down her face. My stomach clenched. My jaws tightened. I was young but I was old enough to understand what was going on. My mom came to get me so we could go see my father. I asked her "Mom is he dead?". She looked down at me . "Baby no, daddy is just in critical condition right now." I nodded my head.

We walked to the hospital room where my dad was. I walked in the room and seen him hooked up to machines. I came up beside him and held his hand. His eyes started to open. He looked me in mine. "Anaiya.. take care of your mother, okay?" he said , with shortness of breath. I could hear the strain in his voice. My eyes started to water .. and so did his. "Okay daddy, I love you and I ho-..." A tear came down his face and his eyes started to close. "DADDY?... DADDY?.." I yelled. He took his last breath. I had the strangest sensation that my dad would wake up and tell me all about dying, what it was like, how it had gone, as if having triumphed over the last of life's challenges, he could give me some wisdom about what to expect. It is very early days and I am taking things one day at a time. I know life will never be the same and the pain at times is suffocating but I hope with time I can live with it.
