... A Few Months Later...
"You ready for this?"
"Yea, I think say."
"Cleo. You're going to do great, just remember I am here the whole play, so if you ever get nervous just remember that I got you."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For still being here after what happened on that roof a couple months back."
"Together or not I wouldn't leave you for the world."
I hug her and we walk backstage to get ready. It's the end of our spring musical and Cleo and I are preparing to do this big kiss thats supposed to happen at the end. I personally don't want do the kiss. I mean I love Cleo and I do really want to kiss her sometimes, but it will only complicate things. We run on to stage and start the scene that leads to the kiss.
"I think we lost them. Are you ok Peggy Sue?"
"Jack, you didn't have to save me back there."
"I know, but Peggy Sue you have to understand something, I love you and it would break my heart if something ever happened to you."
"Jack I just--"
"Shhh don't say another word, I know how you feel."
"Do you really?"
"Yea, I do."
I kiss her, and as soon as she starts kissing back the crowd erupts in a fury of claps. We pull back from the kiss and just hold each other's hand. Gazing into her eyes, I suddenly started to feel faint.
"Jay are you om?" Cleo whispers
"Yea, I'm fi-"
...
"JAY, WAKE UP!"
I say as I repeatedly shake him. Tears start pouring down my face as he doesn't respond.
"CAN SOMEONE, ANYONE GET US SOME HELP PLEASE!"
The EMT's come and I let them do they job. They put an oxygen mask on him, and put him on the stretcher. They put him in the ambulance truck and I ride with them, so I can hold his hand the whole way there.
"Please stay with me Jay, You're all I got. Remember the 3 million, fight for you. Jay fight for us."
I say behind a face full of tears.
...
Hours later he wakes up and I inform him on how he got here.
"WOW, so I really fainted?
"Yea, you did."
"Where is everyone?
"Your grandma went to go get the doctor so he can come back with the results."
"Results?"
"Yea, they took some test on you to see why you just fainted out the blue."
"Yea, ok makes sense."
We sit there taking and laughing for a while, before the doctor walks in.
"Mr. Lewis, glad to see you're in good spirits."
"Doc, what do we owe this visit?"
"I've come to deliver your results."
Jay grabs my hand and his grandma's as the doctor delivers the horrifying news.
