Emma sat in the classroom reading a book. Faith wasn't in class today oddly, it wasn't like her to skip school. Emma should know, considering they'd been best friends since preschool. Dylan leaned toward Emma and whispered,"Where is Faith?" Emma shrugged. Everyone knew Dylan had a crush on Faith and of course Faith had a crush on Dylan. Emma started wondering again, where was Faith? She would never miss school because of a common cold and usually if she was she would text Emma telling her she wasn't going to school. She looked out the window thinking about Faith and her outgoing and friendly attitude. Always smiling, laughing, talking, everything Emma was not. She heard sirens from outside and wondered what was happening, not realizing that Faith had been drowned.
Emma layed on her bed texting Faith. She hadn't responded at all and she usally always responded. There was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" Emma called. She saw her mother walk in looking like she was just crying.
