"Why hello, Bailey, I am Alaric Saltzman."
————————————————————
I look up at him and smile. "Umm hello." I said sheepishly to him. I then too notice to his scruffy features. He had dirty blonde hair, the kind that looked almost light brown, blue eyes and slight facial hair. He didn't seem to be the type to be dangerous, but I didn't want to take any chances if it could harm me or my child. My gaze met his and my cheeks flushed with embarrassment. What if he thinks I'm checking him out? I mean don't get me wrong, he is good looking, but definitely not my type. He looks way too old for me and anyway, I'm into the bad guys or the guys with accents. I am a sucker for accents!
I gave him a smile that was just big enough to make it one and asked again, "Is Caroline here? I think I might have the wrong address or something." Alaric looked a bit amused, which made me feel slightly offended and annoyed. I huffed but that only seemed to entertain him more. There was an awkward silence that was too unbearable. I was about to say something when he ended the silence. "Yeah, she is here. Would you like for me to fetch her for you?" He slightly chuckled when he said 'fetch'. I clicked my tongue and sighed. "Look, not to be rude or anything, but I just want to talk to Caroline. It would be real nice if you would kindly cut the chitchat and get her because this conversation has got me nowhere close to seeing her. So unless she is just gonna pop up in a few seconds and say 'surprise!', then I advise you to get her and not just stand there and dilly dally."
He looked shocked to say the least. Then, he shut the door in my face and I assume left. I looked at Jayce that was sitting on my left hip, playing with my hair. I smiled and bounced him softly. I tucked the long black strand of hair that was blowing in his face behind his ear and laughed. He looks so much like his father. He had my silky black hair and small feet, but he had his fathers green eyes and personality. I still remember him, he was the love of my life. Or so I thought. Until one day, he just up and left. I was so upset when I found out he left. But, I guess I wasn't mad at him leaving. What I was really mad at was the fact that he never said goodbye.
After a bit of time passed, the 'Alaric' guy opened up the door again and with him was Caroline. I looked away from Jayce's candy apple green eyes and looked to the two. I smiled at Caroline to show acknowledgement and took a deep breath. "Hey, Care!" I said trying to contain my girly squeal, hoping not to scare off any possible new friends. "Hey Bailey! This is Alaric, but you probably already know that! O-M-G! I totally forgot!" She replied yelling (or should I say screeching) the last bit. Both me and Alaric look at her confused and startled. "What?" Alaric asked and I nodded showing that I, too wanted to know.
She glanced down at Jayce and gasped, "You didn't think I would let him," pointing at Jayce, "Just be carried around the whole time you are here, did you?" She finished, resulting with my eyes widening. That was a surprise. Well, I guess it really wasn't, but I really hoped she wouldn't spoil him as much as she is leading on. I sent her a questioning glance, causing her to just smile widely. I then knew, trouble was coming if it wasn't already here. Caroline's smile grew (if that was even possible), turned around and walked into the large house.
Since I didn't know whose home she was wanting me to walk into, I stayed and didn't move. She must of noticed that I wasn't going with her because she turned around and said, "It's okay, I promise. Look, if it makes you feel better, the owner wants to meet you, too!" Have said this, I sighed and stepped through the threshold. It was a older type home, it really looked like one of the larger homes in the old movies.
I looked around and there were pictures hanging and on a table. There was one photo that caught my eye though, it looked to be from the 1800s. There were two men, one that looked to be my age and one older. The younger with light brown hair and green eyes, the other with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Both looked to be muscular and handsome.

After some (okay a lot) of help from Care, I finally walked into, what seemed to be, the living area. In here was a lot of my friends like Elena, Care (of course) and Bonnie. There also, were three guys I didn't know, but I did somewhat know the one, considering he answered the door. When I took a good look at the two unknown males, I couldn't help but notice that they looked exactly like the guys in the photo earlier. I mean exactly alike. But that would be impossible considering they would be over a hundred years old and dead. Even if they were alive (which would be pretty damn impossible), they would be old and most likely unable to move, not young like they are.I smiled at the two unknown men and then looked down at Jayce. "Hi baby boy!" I cooed. He just laughed his cute little laugh and then looked to the man who answered the door. But while I was paying more attention to Jayce and my surroundings, I felt him watching me.
"Oh! Bailey, this is Alaric, Stefan and his older brother Damon." Caroline said pointing to each of the men when she said their names. I smiled and waved. See, I don't really like people. One person seemed to stand out though. Alaric. There was something about him that drew me in, but it felt a bit off.
After introducing everyone that I didn't know, Caroline looked at Jayce and rushed to take him from my grip. When she finally held him for the first time, her eyes lit up. You see I always thought that Caroline would be a great mom. I mean yeah, there are times to where she is a mythic bitch, but she has her good moments.
If I had to write down all the good qualities about Caroline, I wouldn't be able to because I wouldn't be able to remember all of them. Caroline is such a great friend, she is so bubbly, cheerful, protective, and loyal it is not funny. To many people she would come out as a bitch but to me, she just doesn't have anyone to relate to.

After a while I became friends with everyone, except one. Alaric. There was something in my gut telling me not to trust anything he says. Three hours have passed and Jayce has been to everyone except Alaric. Damon now had Jayce and was whispering sweet things into his ear, "I promise to protect you, little one." Once I heard this I smiled. After about 45 minutes of Alaric telling Damon he wanted to see Jayce, Damon passes him off. Now, Alaric had Jayce and that put me on edge. But once I seen the way he looked at my sweet baby boy, I somehow knew I could trust him with Jayce. I don't know if was the way he was holding him as if he was protecting him from the world or if it was the look in his eyes of pure happiness when he held him that made me come to this realization. All I knew was Alaric would never hurt Jayce in anyway.
