She'd cry in childhood about the creatures beneath her bed and living inside her closest. Her father would console her to the best of his ability, promising there was no such thing.

As she grew she discovered that the monsters didn't have sharp teeth and piercing claws, instead they had lingering gazes and grabbing hands.

That fear only increased with the realization that everything her father promised her was fallacy was, in fact, true, and real. Her father didn't tell her that monsters could come to you in the form of honey-blondes with alluring accents and a charming ability to make you feel like you're the only girl in the world.
