It's been several weeks since I was taken, and the painful experiments had not stopped but had calmed down. Despite the pain, I was able to transform between two forms: my normal humanoid form and a form of a werewolf. I'd also grown a bushy tail, which was no doubt a sign of the experiment's success.
The man had made a prosthetic for my werewolf form. I don't know how it worked, but my prosthetic arm did not carry over to my humanoid body. It's almost like my humanoid body traded places with my werewolf form.
I was doing a few tactile tests, mainly testing my sense of touch and killing a few Grimm. I didn't enjoy it; I often got injured in the fights, but it made the man give me some time to rest without the next experiment, so I just continued doing them to bide my time.
The amount of hatred I felt for this man was unimaginable. I've already decided that I'm going to kill him. The only question is when. I'm too weak to do it now; I'm still healing from my most recent fight with a Beowolf.
The man is now keeping me in a cage instead of a medical chair. I guess he thinks he can trust me.
I slept for a while but woke up when I heard voices above me. I must not be as far underground as I thought I was. I couldn't recognize them because of the walls between us, but they were talking about a criminal.
Finally, the police or a team of hunters are here to save me.
It wasn't long before the door was blown open. The man was taken by surprise and ran over toward me, but I had already shifted to my werewolf form and began tearing the cage door off its hinges in a burst of strength.
The hunters turned the corner into the room as the man spoke to me.
Man: Yes, perfect! Protect me, my creation!
I snarled and leaped onto him, knocking him over as I began tearing into his flesh with my claws. He had made the mistake of giving me claws made of bronze on my prosthetic, which only caused more damage as I raked my claws over his body.
The man was screaming in agony, but I didn't care. This man had tortured me for weeks. The hunters had a look of surprise on their faces, but after I finished mauling him, I stopped and laid down on the floor, my claws and teeth covered in blood. His blood tasted disgusting, but the feeling of revenge being satisfied overwhelmed the bad taste.
The hunters stepped forward, and I finally had time to get a good look at them. My eyes softened as I noticed my mother.
I slowly stood up and walked over to her, and I shifted as I got to her.
Her eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as she instantly hugged me tightly, tears streaming down her face.
Mom: My boy is alive; my boy is still alive; I can't believe it.
She didn't let me go, even as the medical team showed up to take me to the hospital. Instead, she opted to carry me to the ambulance herself, forcing the paramedics to work around her to get me hooked up to the machines.
The ride to the hospital seemed almost as if it were in slow motion, and I even blacked out for a short while in the ambulance.
When I woke back up, I was surrounded by my family, who were all elated to see me alive, even though I was scarred beyond repair.
The police came by to take my statement, and my mother was crying by the end of it. Obviously, there was nobody left alive to charge, and they weren't about to charge a boy for killing his kidnapper and torturer.
The feeling of revenge hadn't left my body, though, and I knew then what I had to do.
I had to get back at all those who wished to do anyone harm. I need to make sure that nobody goes through even a fraction of the abuse I went through in those weeks I was missing.
I needed to become someone else. I needed to become something else.
It would take months of training and a few surgeries that I already had plans to ask for, but I would become a protector, no matter the cost.
A/n: Another short one, but the next chapter will be the last one of the prologue, and we can finally get into the meat and potatoes of this story.
