Daconi sighed and curled up on the bed, in her room that had been repurposed to be a prison cell, waiting for Ragnar to come and talk to her about *that*. She heard loud, heavy footsteps approaching, undoubtedly him. She curled away from the door when Ragnar gently opened it in an attempt to not scare her.
"Daconi?" He whispered, afraid to upset her any more, "it's okay, just tell me what you need to."
She ignored him and wiped away a frustrated tear. He never seemed to get it, that not everything could be saved. She felt him sit at the edge of the bed.
"Daconi, please, talk to me, whatever happened we can work it out." He pleaded. She glanced to him and looked away. There was so much emotion, so much vulnerability displayed on his face. She never really thought that Ragnar could like that; so sad, yet so understanding of her situation. Daconi shifted to face him and finally said "No Ragnar, you can't fix this, it's beyond you and me."
"Yes I can, we can do this, together with Sylen, as a team, like how it's always been." He replied.
"You don't understand, he's going to be after us to get to me. And he's not going to be merciful to us when it happens. It's impossible to help and not die in the process."
Ragnar looked at her in shock and sympathy "I swear we can, just give us a chance, Cirrus isn't going to kill you for being a traitor as long you stay with me."
"You don't know that Ragnar, his army is a lot stronger than what would be expected out of him and how he treats his people." She cried out. She looked away from his face and brought her hand up to her face to wipe away another tear, this time one of sadness. Ragnar stared at her in shock and choked out a noise somewhere between desperation and loss.
"It's okay, I swear, we saved Uvyia after all, and she had a lot going against her as well. You should know that considering just how much you did for her in her time of need. So please, let Sylen and I do the same with you."
Daconi's cat like ear twitched from an emotion that Ragnar could not discern before she eventually said, voice full of regret "I cannot be saved, I'm in to deep, and now I cannot escape, goodbye Ragnar, it's been fun here with you and Sylen."
"Hey, what on do you mean by tha-" His sentence was cut short by Daconi punching him in the jaw, effectively knocking him unconscious. She got up and left the note that she originally wanted to leave, the one for Thomathy, on her dresser. She snuck out of the house and looked to the place that had been her home for several years, the home that she knew would never return to. She turned around and walked away, feeling as if she had a major mistake.
